Sausage Cream Cheese Crescents Ingredients
Sausage: You will need 16-ounces of cooked and crumbled sausage. Use any brand you like, so feel free to switch it up with different flavors like maple or sage.
Cream cheese: Use one 8-ounce block of softened cream cheese for the base of the filling mixture.
Cheese: 1 cup of shredded cheese is needed for these rolls. We use Cheddar Jack cheese, but you can use any that you prefer or whatever you have in your fridge.
Crescent rolls: For the buttery soft base of this recipe, you need 2 cans of crescent rolls (any brand).
Optional: If you want a little extra flavor in your filling, mix in 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika.
How to Make Sausage Crescent Rolls
Start by preheating the oven to 375 degrees F. Then line a baking sheet with parchment paper and then set it aside.
Cook Sausage
The sausage needs to be cooked before baking, so cook the sausage in a skillet until it is no longer pink. Make sure to crumble it into small pieces as you cook it. Remove the skillet from the heat and allow the sausage to cool for 5 minutes before use.
Make Filling
Next, cut the cream cheese into small cubes and add them to the skillet with the sausage, along with the shredded cheese as well. Stir the sausage and cheeses together to combine well and let the cheese melt with the meat. You want the mixture to be well combined so that everything is evenly distributed throughout the rolls.
Assembly
Once the filling is ready, start opening the cans of crescent rolls and separate the triangles. Then use a sharp knife to slice them in half lengthwise to make two thinner triangles.
Proceed to place a teaspoon of sausage filling onto the widest portion of the triangles, then roll them up from wide side to small side and place them onto your prepared baking sheet.
Repeat until all of the rolls have been filled and rolled.
Bake
Place the stuffed rolls in the preheated oven and bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until they are lightly browned.
Serve warm and enjoy! These are fabulous with a bit of maple syrup on top as well.

How long are sausage crescent rolls good for?
These rolls are best when served immediately, but you can easily keep them in an airtight container for up to 5 days in the fridge. Just reheat again before serving. I recommend reheating them in the air fryer to recreate that fresh from the oven taste.
What are some variations of sausage crescent roll appetizers?
There are many variations of sausage crescent roll appetizers that you can try. Some popular options include switching up the shredded cheese type, adding chopped vegetables, or using different types of sausage or even chorizo. You can also experiment with different seasonings and spices to add more flavor.
Can I make sausage crescents in advance?
I don’t recommend opening a can of crescent rolls and having them sit rolled in the fridge overnight because that can cause some texture issues or turn the dough too soft when baking. You can, however, prepare the filling in advance. Just let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes to soften before rolling into your crescent and baking as directed.
How can you substitute crescent roll dough if it’s not available?
If you can’t find crescent roll dough, you can use puff pastry or phyllo dough as a substitute. Keep in mind that the texture and taste may be slightly different, but the recipe will still work.
Are there any dairy-free alternatives for the cream cheese?
Yes, there are several dairy-free alternatives for cream cheese that you can use in sausage crescent rolls. Some options include vegan cream cheese, tofu cream cheese, or a cashew-based cream cheese.
Is it possible to make this with a vegetarian sausage alternative?
Yes, you can use a vegetarian sausage alternative to make sausage crescent rolls. Look for plant-based sausages made from soy, seitan, or vegetables. Keep in mind that the texture and taste may be slightly different, but the recipe will still work.
