No trip to Taco Bell is complete without their famous Cinnamon Twists. And now you can make these delicious, crunchy twists at home. With some pre-made duros and a quick coating of sugar and cinnamon, you can satisfy your craving day or night!
Ingredients for Taco Bell Cinnamon Twists
Duritos (duros): Simplify this recipe by using pre-made spiral-shaped duros, you will need 4-oz.
Oil: Use vegetable or canola oil, for frying, the amount depends on the size of your pan.
Cinnamon sugar coating: Combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 2 TBSP of cinnamon for the sweet twist coating.

Tips for Making Cinnamon Twists from Taco Bell
- Choosing the Best Duritos (Duros): They should be spiral-shaped and sold dry in a 4-ounce package for this recipe. Look for light, airy spirals that will puff up nicely when fried. Thicker or denser pieces may not expand well and could be tougher to eat. Some brands label them as “puffed wheat snack.”
- Selecting the Right Oil. Vegetable or canola oil works best for frying cinnamon twists because they have a neutral flavor and high smoke points. This keeps the twists crispy without adding unwanted tastes.
- Coating Techniques. After frying, the duritos should be warm but not too oily for the coating to adhere properly. Toss them immediately in a bowl with the cinnamon sugar mix. Using a large bowl helps the duritos move freely, allowing even coverage.

What are Duros?
Duros (also known as duritos, chicharrones de harina, or pasta para duros) are a crunchy Mexican snack made primarily from wheat flour, cornstarch, salt, and baking soda. In their uncooked form, they look like small, hard, orange-colored pasta pellets or wagon wheels. When fried they puff up and are light and airy, which makes them perfect for cinnamon twists!
How long are these Cinnamon Twists good for?
Cinnamon twists can typically be stored for 2-3 days in an airtight container at room temperature. For optimal freshness, it is best to consume them within this time frame.
