White Chocolate Chex Mix is made with cereal, pretzels, peanuts and M&Ms all coated in white chocolate. This easy white chocolate chex mix recipe is salty and sweet and comes together in less than 5 minutes!
White Chocolate Chex Mix is one of my favorite recipes to take to a party or to divide up into festive little bags to hand out to neighbors and friends during the holiday season. The white chocolate coating is easily melted in the microwave which means this recipe could not be any easier to make! Although I typically pull out this recipe around the holidays, it is also a great snack mix for the rest of the year too. Just use regular M&Ms instead of the holiday variety and this easy chex mix recipe becomes the perfect snack all year long! It will disappear as quickly as the time it took to make it!
This White Chocolate Party Mix recipe makes a very large batch of chex mix so you will definitely want to plan to share! This snack mix is one of the yummiest that I’ve tried and even though it is delicious (and somewhat addictive!), I feel like my family can barely make a dent because it makes so much! I love taking this recipe to parties and handing it out to neighbors and friends, it is always received with smiling faces and happy belly’s.
My favorite way to gift this delicious chex mix recipe is to put it in cellophane bags like these. These work great for teacher Christmas gifts too, who doesn’t love an edible gift? You can easily make 15-20 generously portioned gift bags out of just one batch. This recipe is super easy, ridiculously inexpensive and everyone loves this delightful snack mix.
Ingredients in White Chocolate Chex Mix
Mini pretzels- You will need about 5 cups of mini pretzels, if you are a pretzel lover like me don’t hesitate to add a little more.
Honey Nut Cheerios- Using around 5 cups of cheerios will add a wonderful subtle sweetness to this mix.
Corn Chex- This recipe calls for 5 cups of Corn Chex, that will give you enough for your family and some to share.
Salted peanuts- You will need 2 cups of salted peanuts to provide a delicious crunch to this chex mix recipe.
M&M’s- Grab a 1lb bag of your favorite M&M’s, holiday style or regular depending on your needs.
White Chocolate chips- Using 2 packages of white chocolate chips (12 oz. each) will result in a perfect combination of sweet and salty in this mix.
Coconut Oil: You need 3 tablespoons of coconut oil. If you do not have coconut oil, vegetable oil works great too.
How to make White Chocolate Chex Mix
On a large baking pan cover with wax paper and set aside.

What type of chocolate works best in white chocolate party mix?
I usually just use whatever brand of white chocolate chips I happen to have on hand, and the recipe tastes amazing and works out well every time! If you are a little bit pickier about your chocolate, you can definitely use a higher quality white chocolate for the candy coating on this Chex mix. I actually don’t usually like white chocolate very much, but absolutely love it in this recipe – something about the combination of all the different flavors makes it so savory!
How long can you store chex mix?
This chex mix recipe will stay fresh for about 3-4 days in an airtight container. Any longer than that, and the cereal will start to taste a bit stale, so make sure to package some up and start handing it out to the neighbors – this batch is pretty large!
Can I freeze this chex mix recipe?
Although this treat is meant to be enjoyed immediately upon making it you can freeze this treat for up to four weeks. Ensure it is in an air tight container to reduce the amount of condensation when it thaws. You can even spread on a baking sheet and heat for a few minutes to bring the mixture back to life after freezing, let cool before eating. The treat will be good for about 3-4 days after thawing.

The chips did not become creamy and able to pour after 2 minutes. Stirred and stirred. The chips separated and were clumpy and thick. Not at all like the picture!
You overcooked your chocolate and it seized.

Can almond bark be used in place of chips?
Yep, that would work great!
Can you freeze this?
Yes, it should stay good in the freezer for up to a month!
So tasty and yummy…. people thought I bought it from Harry & David. Everybody had asked for the recipe at the end of the night
How much is considered a serving?
A serving is 1 cup of the mix.
Can I use popcorn? Suggestions for other combinations (no nuts). Thanks!
I think popcorn would work great! Another reader just posted that she added goldfish crackers and Teddy Grahams! Many kinds of cereal would work well in this mix also.
I used mini m&ms and replaced 2 cups of pretzels with original goldfish crackers (saltine not cheese). I also replaced 1 cup of Cheerio with Teddie Grahams. Before it cooled I sprinkled the top with Christmas color sprinkles.
Those sound like great substitutions- thanks for sharing!
Question, when you say 5 cups of corn chex, does that mean measuring it by pouring into a measuring cup? Sorry if that’s a stupid question, it’s just that a box has 12 ounces and if you convert that to cups = 1-½ cups…….
We measure by pouring it into measuring cups, not trying to do the math on the back of the box. It seems easier that way and it gives less chance of an error to cause anything to go wrong.. also, it’s not a dumb question so thank you for taking the time to ask. We hope you enjoy this recipe soon
Thank you so much! I love white chocolate, looking forward to making this!
Good luck! 🙂
Am wondering if crispex cereal can be used instead of Chex.
The first time I made this, I picked up mint M&M’s by mistake. It was so much better, I will never use regular M&M’’s. This is a favorite, plain or mint.
Ooh I love that! Mint M&M’s for the win!
This is so good! And it’s not overly sweet.
So glad you like it Melissa!
