Why you’ll love this Turtle Fudge Recipe
- Simple ingredients. You will only need about 8 or 9 ingredients in total for this easy turtle fudge recipe, and they are all fairly easy to find in your home or grocery store. Ingredients like vanilla extract, chocolate chips, condensed milk, etc.
- Customizable: The ingredients can be adjusted to suit personal preferences, such as using different nuts or types of chocolate. Experiment and create a new and exciting treat each time you make it!

Carmel Turtle Fudge Ingredients
Chocolate chips: You will need 3 cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips to create the rich chocolate layers in this fudge.
Condensed milk: Use one 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk to ensure the fudge is sweet and thick.
Marshmallow cream: Adding in 3.5-ounces of marshmallow creme, or marshmallow fluff, will help the fudge set up properly.
Vanilla extract: Use 2 tsp of vanilla extract to enhance all the amazing flavors in this recipe.

Salt: Make this fudge taste even better by stirring in ¼ tsp of salt.
Pecans: Use 2 cups of chopped toasted pecans for the “turtle” part of this recipe.
Caramels: You need 30 soft caramel candies (like Kraft) to create the perfect turtle treat experience.
Heavy cream: Use 1 TBSP of heavy cream to ensure the caramels are the right melted consistency.
Salt flakes: This is optional, but adding some sea salt flakes to the top of the fudge will create a rich new experience.

How to Make Turtle Fudge
Prep
Begin by spraying the inside of a 9×9 baking dish with non-stick cooking spray and then line it with parchment paper. The cooking spray will help prevent the parchment paper from sticking to the pan and make for an easy removal.
Chocolate & pecan layer
Then in a saucepan, over medium-low heat, melt the chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk. Melt the chocolate slowly, so it does not burn. Once melted and smooth, stir in the marshmallow cream.
Proceed to spread half of the chocolate mixture over the bottom of the prepared pan. Then press the pecans over the top of the chocolate mixture.

Caramel layer & assemble
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the caramel candies (unwrapped) with the heavy cream, for 30 seconds. Stir together until melted and smooth. Proceed to spoon half of the caramel sauce over the top of the pecans in the pan.
Then top it off with the remaining half of the chocolate mixture and the remaining pecans, to create multiple layers of chocolate and pecans in the fudge.
Top & Serve
Drizzle the top with any remaining caramel you may have. If the caramel is not soft enough to drizzle, reheat in the microwave for another 10 seconds. If desired, sprinkle the top of the fudge with flakey sea salt.
Let the fudge cool in the refrigerator for 30-60 minutes and then cut into small squares.
Serve and enjoy!

Variations of Turtle Fudge Recipe
Turtle fudge can be customized in many ways to suit different tastes. Here are several variations to consider:
Nut Options: Replace pecans with walnuts, almonds, or macadamia nuts for a unique flavor profile.
Chocolate Types: Use dark chocolate for a richer taste or white chocolate for a sweeter twist.
Layering Alternatives: Experiment with cookie crumbles or graham cracker layers for added texture.
Fruit Additions: Incorporate dried fruit like cherries or cranberries for a fruity element.

How long is this chocolate turtle fudge recipe good for?
If you are wondering how long fudge stays good, you will be happy to hear about its long shelf life! This fudge should be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 10 days. For longer storage, you can place the squares in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 weeks.

Yes! This fudge can be frozen in an airtight container for up to 3 months. I recommend already having the fudge sliced into serving-sized squares so that it is easier to serve, or grab and go if you want to grab a few pieces at a time.

What compliments fudge?
You can find that almost anything complements a good piece of fudge. Anything from wine to cheese (sharp or mild) and some fresh fruits would make any piece of fudge feel fancier. Serve up this fudge with your favorite indulgent treats, or serve them up on their own.
Can you use white chocolate for a variation of this recipe?
Yes, white chocolate can be used as a substitute for traditional chocolate in turtle fudge. This variation results in a sweeter profile and can complement the rich caramel and pecan flavors.
When using white chocolate, ensure you adjust the quantities of sweeteners to avoid overwhelming sweetness.
How can you add a salty twist to a traditional turtle fudge recipe?
Adding a salty twist to turtle fudge can be accomplished by incorporating sea salt into the caramel layer or sprinkling it on top before the fudge sets.
Another option is to use salted pecans instead of regular pecans for enhanced flavor contrast. These additions create a delightful balance between sweetness and saltiness.
