What is cotton candy fudge?
Despite the name, there is no real cotton candy in this fudge. There are cotton candy extracts or flavored oils helping to give us that flavor we expect. The colors come from food dyes to help mimic the traditional pink and blue cotton candy flavors and colors we know and love.
Cotton Candy Fudge Ingredients
-White chocolate chips: We need 3 1/2 cups of white chocolate chips (this is about 8 ounce sized bags) so plan your shopping trip accordingly.
-Sweetened condensed milk: With one 14 ounce sized can of sweetened condensed milk we can thicken up the melted chocolate for a simple fudge recipe that requires little effort.
-Gel food coloring: In order to get the pink and blue swirls of color that we want, we need to use GEL based food coloring. Please note that liquid food colorings are often water based and will cause the chocolate to seize and not turn out correctly.
-Cotton candy extracts: You can use 1/2 teaspoon of cotton candy extract or 1-2 drops of your favorite cotton candy flavor oil to get the flavor we want.
-Sprinkles: an optional topping that you really will want. With cute sprinkles on top, we can make these fudge squares look magical.
