Oreo Pancakes are a delicious twist on the classic breakfast favorite. These light and fluffy pancakes are made with crushed Oreos in the batter, then topped with whipped cream and more crushed Oreos!
We love breakfast recipes, and pancakes are some of our favorites! And who doesn’t love Oreos? Yes, these pancakes are sweet enough to eat for dessert, but they also are perfect for breakfast or brunch, especially for a special occasion.
What are Oreo Pancakes?
Oreo Pancakes are made with flour, sugar, baking powder, milk and melted butter. Crushed Oreos are mixed into the batter before baking to give them that delicious cookies & cream flavor. Homemade whipped cream makes the perfect topping for these pancakes, especially if you add some more crushed Oreos and chocolate syrup on top.
Ingredients in Oreo Pancakes
Flour – The recipe calls for 1 ¾ cups of flour. This is the base of the pancake batter and provides structure to the pancakes.
Sugar – 2 tablespoons of granulated (white) sugar are added to the dry ingredients. This helps to sweeten the pancakes and balance out the bitterness of the crushed Oreos.
Baking Powder – 1 ½ tablespoons of baking powder are used in this recipe. This is what gives the pancakes their fluffy texture and helps them rise.
Milk – The recipe calls for 1 ¼ cups of milk. This is used to create a smooth batter and add moisture to the pancakes.
Butter – ¼ cup of melted butter is added to the batter. This adds richness and flavor to the pancakes.
Oreos – 20 Oreos are crushed and divided in this recipe. The larger chunks are set aside to be used as a topping, while the rest are finely crushed and mixed into the batter. The Oreos add a unique flavor and texture to the pancakes.
Whipped Cream – The whipped cream is made with 1 ½ cups of heavy cream, ½ cup of powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla. The whipped cream is what makes these pancakes truly decadent. It is mixed with crushed Oreos to add even more flavor and texture.
How to Make Oreo Pancakes
Crush the Oreos into small chunks. Set aside ¾ cup of the crushed Oreos and finely crush the rest.
Mix the finely crushed Oreos, flour, sugar, and baking powder together to make the pancake batter. Then, make a well in the middle of the dry ingredients and add melted butter and milk. Mix until there are no lumps, but be careful not to overmix.
Once the batter is ready, heat a pan on medium heat and make sure it is warm/hot before adding any batter. Add vegetable oil, cooking spray, or butter to the pan if you would like. Then, add about ⅓ cup of batter and cook until the edges of the pancake start to become firm. Flip the pancake and cook for the same amount of time (2-4 minutes). Repeat this process until all of the batter is used up.
To make the whipped cream, add heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla to a bowl and mix it with a hand or stand mixer for 3-4 minutes, or until stiff peaks form. Stir in ¼ cup of the reserved crushed Oreos, and top with chocolate syrup if desired!

Do pancakes bubble up when they are ready to flip?
These pancakes do not bubble up like regular pancakes! Usually you can tell when pancakes are ready to flip because they bubble up on the uncooked side. Because of the Oreos in the batter, these pancakes likely won’t bubble much, so just watch the edges to see when they start to firm up as an indicator of when to flip them!
Can you freeze Oreo pancakes?
Absolutely! Freezing these pancakes is the best way to keep them good and reheat to taste fresh again! But be sure to freeze them before topping with whipped cream. Make sure the pancakes are completely cooled before placing in freezer Ziplock bags in the freezer for up to 2 months.
When ready to re-heat, you can place them in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds, or you can toast them in the toaster (that’s my favorite way) until heated through.
WHAT TYPE OF HEAVY CREAM SHOULD I USE FOR WHIPPED CREAM?
All heavy creams are not created equally! Heavy cream is required to have at least a 36% fat content, but the brands on the shelf at the grocery store vary between 36-40%. (In contrast, whipping cream has only 30-35% fat.) So check the label and make sure you purchase the highest fat % of heavy cream you have available.
