How to make Chicken Philly Sandwiches
Prep
Before beginning to prep & assemble the sandwiches, you need cooked and shredded chicken. You can use store bought rotisserie chicken or do it at home yourself with this easy recipe.
Once the chicken is cooked & ready, start preheating the oven to 350°F. Then spray the bottom of a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray and set it aside.
Thinly slice the red and green bell peppers, as well as the onion. Set both aside.
Sauté veggies
In a large skillet add 1 tablespoon of butter and melt over medium high heat. Then add the sliced bell peppers and onions. Sauté the veggies for 3-5 minutes, or until they have softened. Remove vegetables from the heat and set aside.
Assemble
Next, slice your sheet of Hawaiian rolls in half crosswise. Place the bottom half of the rolls into the prepared baking dish.
Then add 6 slices of cheese to the bottom layer of the rolls.
After that, top the cheese with the shredded chicken, followed by the sauteed onions and peppers.
Now add the remaining 6 slices of cheese on top of the vegetables and place the top bun layer onto the sliders.
In a small bowl melt the remaining 2 TBSP of butter (in the microwave), then add in the dried onion and poppy seeds. Proceed to generously brush the butter mixture across the tops of the slider buns.
Bake
Then cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the sliders are warmed through and the cheese is melted.
Optional: Place the cooked sliders under the broiler for 2-3 minutes to brown the top of the rolls. Watch carefully as they will brown quickly.
Garnish the tops of the warm sliders with the fresh minced parsley and serve immediately, enjoy!
