Strawberry Tres Leches Cake

STRAWBERRY TRES LECHES CAKE
Ingredients
Three milks
- 12 oz evaporated milk
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
Cake
- 15.25 oz vanilla cake mix
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
Whipped Cream
- 2 cups heavy cream
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Toppings
- Blueberries
- Strawberries
Instructions
Prep
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Spray a 9×13 pan with non stick spray and set aside.
Cake batter
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry cake mix, flour, sugar, vanillaextract, eggs, milk, and vegetable oil. Mix with an electric mixer until nolumps remain.
- Proceed to pour the cake batter into the prepared pan and bake in the ovenfor 30-35 minutes.
- Let cool completely on the countertop or place it into the fridge for aspeedier process.
Milk mixture
- Add all three milks into a medium-sized mixing bowl and whisk together tocombine. Place into the fridge until ready to use and the cake has cooled completely.
Whipped cream recipe
- Pour heavy cream into the bowl of an electric mixer. Mix on high for 4-6 minutes, until cream has thickened and stiff peaks form.
- Add powdered sugar to the cream. For more sweetness add more powdered sugar until satisfied. Place into the fridge until ready to use.
Assemble
- Make sure cake is completely cooled. Poke holes all over the cake with a fork.
- Pour the three milk mixture slowly over the cake. You can add more or less depending how moist you want the cake.
- Spread the whip cream evenly over the cake.
To make an American flag cake:
- Wash the blueberries and strawberries well, make sure all stems are removed.
- Then, thinly slice the strawberries.
- Start decorating by adding the blueberries to the upper left side of yourrectangular cake, covering a section about 3 inches across and 2 inches down.
- Use the sliced strawberries to line the cake to help hold the blueberries ontop of the cake. Leave a 1-inch space and then make 3 full lines of strawberries across thecake.
- Place remaining whipped cream in a piping bag to pipe the white lines of the flags. A 1M star tip or any decorative tip would be fine.
- Pipe small star-shaped bits of cream in the spaces between the strawberries.
- Place back into the fridge so the cake has time to absorb the three milks. It's best overnight but if you are in a rush for at least 4-5 hours. Serve & enjoy!
