Crumbles and cobblers are perfect desserts because they are so simple to make and they are delicious all year long. They are very versatile – most of them can be made with any fruit that you’d like. Warm desserts are perfect for warming up in the winter, but add some ice cream and they make a refreshing dessert in the summer as well.
RASPBERRY PEACH CRUMBLE
Raspberry Peach Crumble is a delicious dessert made with sweetened fresh peaches and raspberries topped with a mixture of flour, sugar, butter and almonds. Everything is baked together and the crumble is served warm, often with ice cream!
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A COBBLER AND A CRUMBLE?
The biggest difference between a cobbler and a crumble is the toppings, since the fillings are pretty much the same. Both are baked fruit desserts with a layered topping, but a crumble is a streusel-like topping and a cobbler is more like a thick biscuit or pie dough topping.
Ingredients in Raspberry Peach Crumble
Peaches – You will need 4 large peaches for the crumble. Make sure to peel the peaches and then cut into 1-inch pieces before adding to the recipe.
Raspberries – The recipe calls for 1/2 pint of raspberries, which is about a cup. I usually throw in a few extras since we all love raspberries so much.
Sugar – A little bit of sugar will help to sweeten up the fruit!
Flour – Just 1/4 cup of flour helps to thicken up the filling to the perfect consistency.
CRUMBLE TOPPING:
Butter – You will need 10 tablespoons of butter to make the crumble topping. For best results, use real butter and make sure to melt it and let it cool before adding the other ingredients.
Flour – All-purpose flour works best, but you can use a gluten-free alternative if needed.
Brown sugar – Brown sugar really adds the most delicious flavor to the topping and it pairs so well with the peaches. For best results, make sure your brown sugar is fresh and soft.
Sugar – Just a few tablespoons of sugar adds a little bit of extra sweetness.
Almonds – You will need 1/2 cup of sliced almonds to add some crunch to the crumble. Go ahead and add some extra almonds if you’d like!
How to make Raspberry Peach Crumble
Preheat oven to 350°.
Peel, halve and pit the peaches. Cut into 1-inch pieces. In a large bowl, toss gently with the raspberries, sugar and flour. Spread the fruit mixture evenly in the bottom of a 2 quart baking dish.
To make the crumble topping, melt the butter and let it cool to room temperature. Add the flour, brown sugar, sugar and almonds. Use a fork to mix it all together. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit.
Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the filling is thick and bubbly around the edges.
Let the crumble cool slightly before serving. As with most pies, cobblers and crumbles, they are best eaten warm. Take the whole dessert up a notch by serving it with whipped cream or ice cream.

HOW DO YOU GET THE SKIN OFF PEACHES?
The easiest method is to use a paring knife to score the bottom of the peaches before placing it into a hot boiling pot of water for 10-20 seconds until the skin splits and then removing them with a slotted spoon. Place them into an ice bath of cold water to stop the cooking process. Then the skins should peel off just by rubbing your fingers over it.
WHAT KIND OF PEACHES ARE BEST FOR CRUMBLE?
There are so many different peach varieties out there that it can be hard to choose. While Freestone peaches are incredible for canning and baking, you may not find them so easily in certain locations. For that reason, it doesn’t hurt to stick to the tried and true classics like Yellow Peaches or Clingstone.
CAN I USE A DIFFERENT FRUIT?
Absolutely! If you don’t like peaches or raspberries, you can just use one or the other. You can use any type of berry, or combination of berries. Raspberries and blackberries are fantastic in this crumble. I like to use any type of berry that I can pick from my garden or that happens to be on sale at the time.
HOW LONG IS RASPBERRY PEACH CRUMBLE GOOD FOR?
You can store this crumble in the fridge for up to 4 days. You can reheat each individual serving in the microwave before serving.
You can also freeze the baked crumble for up to 2 months. When ready to eat, place in the oven at 425° until it is heated all the way through.
CAN YOU USE FROZEN FRUIT IN CRUMBLE RECIPES?
I prefer to use fresh fruit, but you can use frozen fruit instead. Make sure to thaw the fruit in the refrigerator before coating in the sugar and flour.
CAN I USE PIE FILLING?
Yes, you can use pie filling in place of the fresh or canned peaches in this recipe. Since pie filling is already sweetened, you’ll want to reduce the amount of sugar in the crumble to 3-4 tablespoons, so that it’s not overly sweet.
