Chunky Peach Syrup made easy in 10 minutes in the microwave! Bursting with sweet peach flavor, this Homemade Peach Syrup is a fantastic way to use fresh peaches!
We adore peaches in our family. I bought 3 half bushels this year and knew when I saw my friend’s Peach Syrup recipe (thanks Jamie from Jamie Cooks it Up!) , I had to make it! I simplified it by making it in the microwave and holy moly, it’s incredible! It’s super simple to make too. So grab some fresh peaches and let’s get started.
How to Use Peach Syrup
I made peach waffle syrup for topping waffles, pancakes and crepes. It’d also be fantastic on oatmeal, yogurt or, if I’m being honest, eaten with a spoon. Stir a couple spoonfuls into soda with a splash of milk and you’ll have a lovely peach Italian Cream Soda!
Ingredients for Fresh Peach Syrup
Here’s what you’ll need to make this syrup recipe:
— Peaches- I used 4 large fresh peaches. Chopped up, you’ll need about 3-4 cups total, so feel free to use 2 large cans of peaches instead
— Granulated sugar
— Corn starch
— Water
— Butter- I used salted
— Vanilla extract – my favorite is either Mexican Vanilla or Vanilla Bean Paste
— Cinnamon
How to Make Peach Syrup
Making homemade peach homemade syrup is easy and takes about 20 minutes. Here’s what you’ll need to do:
Prep the Peaches
Peel and slice peaches. You can peel the peaches using the boiling water method, or just carefully slice them off with a paring knife. Set aside.
Combine spices
In a medium bowl, whisk together the sugar, cornstarch and cinnamon.
Divide Peaches
Divide about 1/3 peach slices and add to bowl with cornstarch mixture. Pour in water and stir to combine.
Crush peaches with potato masher or puree using an immersion blender. Stir. Mixture will be pale and cloudy.
Cook Syrup in Microwave
Microwave on high for 3 minutes. Stir. Return to microwave for 2 more minutes. Stir again. Microwave for 2 final minutes.
While mixture is cooking in the microwave, chop the remaining peaches into very small pieces.
Combine it all
Stir in butter and vanilla. Mixture will look like thin jam. Pour in remaining chopped peaches. Stir.
Microwave entire mixture for 1 minute. Stir. Syrup will be thick. Transfer to jar & refrigerate until ready to use. Heat for 1-2 minutes before serving.
Can I make Peach Syrup on the Stove?
Yes, if you’d prefer, you can make this syrup recipe on the stove instead of in the microwave. Instead of adding ingredients to a bowl, you’ll add them to a medium sized saucepan. Heat on medium-high until mixture begins to boil. Reduce heat to medium and boil for 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and proceed with the recipe from step 6.
How to Store Homemade Peach Syrup
Transfer your syrup to an airtight container and store in the fridge. Syrup will stay fresh for about 2 weeks.
Can I Freeze Peach Syrup?
Yes, freezing this homemade syrup recipe is a fantastic idea! Transfer syrup to a freezer-safe container and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw on the countertop and heat before serving.

Sounds like a delicious added touch!

I just made the syrup. After the 1st 3 minutes the puree was pasty. I decided to add the butter vanilla and peaches at that point. Can you suggest what went wrong in the first step?
Jessica says
Were your peaches ripe? The more ripe the peaches are, the juicier they’ll be. Just add more water next time so that it’s not a paste. Be sure to not add vanilla until the very end so that it doesn’t cook off.

Can I put this in jars and do a water bath to help it store longer?
Jessica says
You can… but don’t ask me how, I have very little experience with canning. 😉
Andrea says
How may cups is 4-5 peaches. I think you are thinking the big beautiful peaches we see in the store. The peaches on my tree are very small, think golf ball size. I need to think in cups, not the amount of peaches or it will never work. Thanks
Jessica says
3-4 cups of chopped peaches
