If you need a simple treat that everyone goes crazy over, it’s OREO BALLS! They’re super easy to make and they taste incredible. Adding colorful sand sprinkles on top of the chocolate coating makes these cute little treats look just like mini snow cones! Put them in paper medicine cups to serve and they will be just perfect for your next summer party.
RAINBOW SNOW CONE OREO BALLS
Only 4 ingredients for an amazing bite-sized, no-bake dessert! You must crush up the Oreo cookies, mix them with the cream cheese, and then shape the mixture into balls. Freeze the balls for about 20 minutes and then dip them in melted chocolate. I chose to use vanilla almond bark for this recipe, but you could also use regular semi-sweet chocolate if you prefer. Immediately after the Oreo ball has been dipped, dunk it in colored sand sprinkles to completely coat it.
Ingredients in Rainbow Snow Cone Oreo Balls
Oreo cookies – You will need a 13-15 ounce package of Oreo cookies to make the recipe. Put the Oreos in a blender or food processor to make fine crumbs. Don’t remove the cream filling in the middle!
Cream cheese – Any type of cream cheese will work (non-fat, low-fat, or regular). Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature before adding to the Oreo crumbs.
Vanilla almond bark – Almond bark works great for this recipe, but you can use any type of melting chocolate you prefer.
Sand sprinkles – This is a key ingredient in the recipe! Make sure that you use sand sprinkles so that the Oreo balls look like snow cones!
Paper medicine cups – These little one-ounce paper medicine cups work perfectly for making the Oreo balls look like snow cones.
How to make Rainbow Snow Cone Oreo Balls
MAKE THE OREO BALLS
Add the Oreos to a food processor or blender and pulse until fine crumbs form. Add to a large bowl and add the cream cheese as well. Using a hand beater, carefully beat until everything is mixed together and thick. Get a large tray and line it with parchment paper. Use a cookie scoop to scoop out 2 tablespoons of the mixture into a ball and place it on the parchment paper. Repeat until you have everything rolled out. (To size the balls: Roll out a ball and place it into one of the paper cups, if it goes all the way in it’s too small. If it sits halfway in and halfway out it’s perfect.)
Place each color of sprinkles in a small bowl – you will have one bowl for each color of sand sprinkles.
Place the balls in the freezer for 30 minutes. Before removing them from the freezer, melt the almond bark.
DIP OREO BALLS IN ALMOND BARK
Place the almond bark in a large microwaveable bowl and microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring every 30 seconds until completely melted and smooth.
Using two forks, dip the balls into the melted almond bark. Let some of the excess drip off and then place each ball back onto the parchment paper. Repeat until everything is dipped and let harden (they take just a few seconds to dry.)
MAKE THE “SNOW CONES”
Once hard, use a paintbrush (or a clean finger) to ‘paint’ some almond bark around the bottom of the ball, immediately place it into the paper cup, and lightly press the sides to the wet almond bark. (We are basically gluing the paper cup to the ball.) Set aside and repeat to each ball and cup.
Once that’s dry (a few more seconds) hold the cup and dip the Oreo ball back into the melted almond bark, making sure to dip just right up to the top of the cup. Wipe the ball on the edge of the bowl all around the ball so it’s just a thin layer of chocolate, immediately dunk and swirl in the color sand sprinkle of your choice. Swirl for a few seconds to make sure it gets on there. Set aside and repeat with the other colors. If little spots are missing sprinkles you can dab the chocolate on with a paintbrush and then dip the ball into the sprinkles in that spot.
Make sure everything is hard and dry and then serve and enjoy! Store the Oreo balls in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

HOW DO YOU MELT CHOCOLATE IN THE MICROWAVE?
Melting chocolate in the microwave is easy if you go slowly. Always use a glass or ceramic bowl and chocolate that’s not old. To melt 1 cup of chocolate chips I’d begin with 1 minute in the microwave. After the 1 minute, let the chocolate sit for 2-3 minutes. Then, gently stir and see if the chocolate begins to melt smoothly. If it’s still really solid, add 20 seconds in the microwave, then let it sit again. Often chocolate looks like it’s not melted when it really is, and you don’t know for sure until you gently stir it. If your chocolate melts but it’s too thick to work with, try adding 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil or shortening, then letting it melt and stirring it in.
OREO BALLS WITH CREAM CHEESE RECIPE FAQ
How do you crush Oreos for Oreo balls?
Oreo Balls work best when the Oreo cookies have been ground fine and uniform. The best way to do this is by using a blender or food processor. If you don’t have one, you can place Oreos in a ziplock bag and pound them with a meat mallet or the bottom of a glass jar. Just make sure to turn the bag over often and pound the other side, to make sure you’ve gotten all the lumps out.
Can you put Oreos in a blender?
Yes, you can put Oreos in a blender! It’s actually my favorite way to make Oreo Balls. It’s super fast and easy, just put the Oreos in the blender, place the lid on, and blitz for a few seconds. That’s it!
HOW LONG DO OREO BALLS LAST IN THE FRIDGE?
Oreo balls need to be stored in the refrigerator because of the cream cheese in the recipe. Make sure to put them in an airtight container. Oreo balls can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 weeks.
CAN OREO BALLS BE FROZEN?
