Mint Oreo Balls made with just 3 ingredients & perfect for St. Patrick’s Day! Made in minutes and so delicious, no one can guess they’re made with Oreo cookies!
How do you make Oreo Balls?
Regular Oreo Balls are made with cream cheese, Oreo cookies and a some type of chocolate coating. Only 3 ingredients for an amazing bite sized, no-bake dessert! All you have to do is crush up the Oreo cookies and mix them with the cream cheese and then shape the mixture into balls. Freeze the balls for about 20 minutes and then dip them in melted chocolate. For this recipe, I chose to use vanilla almond bark, but you could also use regular chocolate if you prefer that.

What’s that 3 pronged fork you use to dip your Oreo Cream Cheese Balls?
The 3 pronged fork I use to dip each Oreo Ball is a handy Wilton Dipping tool. It’s part of a 3 piece set that make it so incredibly easy to dip candy, or cookie truffles like these, in chocolate.
What chocolate is best for dipping?
When making candy like this I really find that dipping chocolate just works best. However it’s hard to find mint flavored green melting chocolate! You can use chocolate chips instead, like I did. I find it works best when you add a small amount – about 1/2 tsp- of shortening or coconut oil to the chocolate chips when you melt them in the microwave.
What are the ingredients in this Mint Oreo Balls recipe?
Here’s what you need to make our Mint Oreo Balls:
–1 package Mint OREO Cookies, finely crushed (15.25 oz. pkg)
–8 oz. brick cream cheese, softened
–2 1/2 cups melting chocolate, mint green and semi-sweet
How do you make Oreo Cookie Balls?
- Crush the OREO cookies. I used a blender, but you can use a small food processor, or you can place the cookies in a sealed plastic bag and smash them with a meat mallet! I found that the blender worked best when I did half the cookies at a time, rather than trying to crush all 36 at once. Use a fork to stir the mixture up between blends to get the finest consistency.
2. Mix the crumbs with the cream cheese until well blended.
3. Use a cookie scoop to measure out about 1.5 TBSP of the cookie mixture and roll each scoop into a ball. Place Oreo balls on a parchment or wax paper lined cookie sheet.
4. *Freeze the balls for about 20-30 minutes before dipping.
5. Melt the candy coating or melting chocolate in the microwave for about 1 minute 20 seconds. Stir gently until smooth, returning to the microwave in 15 second increments, if needed.
6. Dip each ball in the chocolate and place back on lined pan.
7. Place about 1 TBSP green chocolate chips and/ or semi sweet chocolate chips in a sandwich bag. Microwave for 40 seconds. Gently massage the bag. Snip a tiny corner of the bag and drizzle chocolate onto each Oreo ball. Sprinkle with green sprinkles, if you’d like.
- *Don’t skip this step! The balls need to be chilled before you dip them in the melted chocolate. If they aren’t chilled, you will end up with a lot of crumbs in your melting chocolate and they won’t look quite as pretty! You’re welcome to divide the directions into 2 parts and make the truffles the day or night before, then dip them in chocolate the next day.

Do these need to stay refrigerated since they have cream cheese or can they sit out for several hours at a potluck?
Jessica says
I store them in the fridge, then pull them out when ready to serve and return them to the fridge after a couple hours.

Where do I find the mint chips?
Jessica says
You can find them on the baking aisle- by the other chocolate chips! I find Walmart has them year round. Other stores near me have them intermittently.

Can these be used as cake pops?
Jessica says
I think that sounds awesome!!
Sharon says
These sound awesome–guess I missed the amount of candy coating or melting chocolate,
Thanks

They’re an awesome treat. You’ll need 2 cups of chocolate which is roughly a bag of melting chocolate or chocolate chips but the amount really varies depending on how thick you make the coating on the oreo balls or if you get fancy with extra drizzling 🙂

These are so good! If you have an Instant Pot, this works great!
Pour 2 cups of water into the bottom of your Instant Pot. Turn your Instant Pot to the saute setting adjust to “more.”
Place a glass or metal bowl that sits in/on the Instant Pot without falling in on top of the Instant Pot
Add the chocolate into the bowl. Stir every minute until the chocolate is smooth and melted. Turn the Instant Pot to the Keep Warm setting.
Place a pretzel on a fork. Lower the pretzel into the chocolate. Coat the pretzel in the chocolate. Tap off excess chocolate. Then place the pretzel on a piece of parchment or waxed paper. Repeat until all the chocolate is used.
Notes
If you use chocolate chips add 1 Tbsp of shortening in with the chocolate chips. This will give a better finish and look and feel of the chocolate.
