Crockpot Sweet and Sour Meatballs made with frozen meatballs and a simple homemade sweet and sour sauce. Sweet and Sour Meatballs are perfect for an appetizer or for a main dish!
Crockpot Sweet and Sour Meatballs are a favorite around my house. Super easy to make and I love that they can be made in the slow cooker so that I don’t have to prep dinner right in the middle of all of the after-school chaos! Just dump in some frozen meatballs and a few other simple ingredients to make a delicious dinner that the whole family will love!
You can serve the meatballs over rice with some vegetables on the side for an easy dinner, or you can serve the meatballs as a simple appetizer at parties or gatherings. Either way, they are delicious!
Ingredients in Crockpot Sweet and Sour Meatballs
Ketchup – Adds a little bit of thickness and a lot of flavor to the sauce.
Tomato sauce – You will need an 8 ounce can of tomato sauce.
Brown sugar – Adds some richness and sweetness. Don’t leave it out!
Chili powder – Just a tablespoon of chili powder adds a lot of flavor. I promise there isn’t too much spice, but you definitely can reduce the amount if you prefer.
Liquid smoke – A little bit of liquid smoke really adds an amazing amount of flavor.
Crushed pineapple – You’ll need a 20 ounce can of crushed pineapple. Just make sure you keep the juice – don’t drain the can!
Frozen meatballs – You will need one (32 oz) package of frozen meatballs. There should be about 60 meatballs in a package. You can use any type of meatball that you want – usually Homestyle meatballs work the best. You probably don’t want to use Italian meatballs because they already have quite a bit of flavors that don’t necessarily pair very well with the flavors in the recipe.

HOW TO MAKE PERFECT RICE IN THE INSTANT POT
My favorite way to make rice these days is in the Instant Pot. Really fast and simple and the rice comes out perfectly every time. I know there is a rice button on the Instant Pot, but I’ve found a better way.
Add the rice in a 1:1 ratio with water or chicken broth. Close and seal the Instant Pot and set to Manual High for 5 minutes. Let the rice cook and then just leave everything sealed until the pressure releases naturally – don’t do a quick release!

Oh my gosh! So easy to make! My husband said they were as good as the ones I had made before (they took a very long time to make) so these will see the table more often! One question… Can the meat ball & sauce be frozen? And if they can..for how long?? (Sweet and sour ball balls in a slow cooker).
