Slow Cooker Chicken Alfredo Soup is smooth, creamy and is made with simple, fresh ingredients. Chicken, milk, cream, garlic and cheese come together to make a soup that tastes just like your favorite alfredo dish…in a delicious soup recipe.
One of my favorite things about fall is being able to start eating soup. Lots of soup. I could honestly eat soup every day all fall and winter and I would be completely satisfied! This soup is very simple which is perfect for even my pickiest daughter, and the flavor is incredible. My kids are always super busy in the fall and it is so much easier to get dinner on the table if I use my slow cooker and do most of my dinner prep in the mornings.
Slow Cooker Chicken Alfredo Soup is high in protein and even higher in flavor. Even my picky kids request this soup on a regular basis. Trying to eat less carbs? Just leave the noodles out!
Ingredients in Slow Cooker Chicken Alfredo Soup
Chicken – Use 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts. Most of the cooking time for this recipe is just for cooking the chicken, but if you are short on time, you can bake the chicken or use a rotisserie chicken instead (directions below).
Garlic – Lots of garlic in this recipe to give the soup that classic alfredo flavor! You’ll need about 4 tablespoons of garlic, so you’ll need about 8 cloves of garlic or you can cheat like I do and use minced garlic straight out of the jar! I always keep a jar of minced garlic in the refrigerator to save on time.
Butter – Can’t leave the butter out!
Chicken bouillon – You’ll need 3 teaspoons of the powdered bouillon or 3 bouillon cubes.
Water
Flour – An important ingredient for thickening the soup to just the right consistency.
Pasta – Bow-tie pasta is my favorite in this recipe, but any small pasta will work.
Milk – 2% is what I have in my fridge and what I use in this recipe, but you can use any type of milk.
Whipping cream – The recipe calls for 2 cups and it really does make the soup so creamy and delicious. If you’re trying to cut calories, you can skip the cream and just add more milk, but your soup will be thinner. Or you can just swap out part of the cream for more milk.
Mozzarella and parmesan cheese – Use shredded cheese for best results so that that the cheese can melt quickly. You can also just use an Italian blend if you prefer.

Once chicken is cooked, cut into bite-sized pieces. Sprinkle flour over the chicken and stir well.

What type of pasta to use in chicken alfredo soup?
I usually use bow-tie noodles in this soup, but any small pasta works great. Miniature shells, elbow, cavatappi, fusili, rotini, small penne….they all work great. Make sure to cook the noodles slightly less than package directions as they will continue to cook in the soup a little bit and you don’t want them to get mushy or over-done.
How to make soup on the stove
I like using the slow cooker for this recipe (mostly for cooking the chicken), but you can easily make this soup recipe on the stovetop. Bake the chicken before placing it in a large pot and then proceeding with the recipe as written, beginning with step 3. Just simmer the soup for about 30-60 minutes over medium-low heat before serving.
Best baked chicken recipe
I love how well chicken cooks in the slow cooker, but if you are short on time and need to speed up the process, here is my favorite method for baking chicken in the oven.
Preheat the oven to 400°. Spray a 9X13 pan with non-stick cooking spray. Use 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and brush all over the sides of the chicken breasts. Sprinkle one teaspoon of salt and one teaspoon of Italian seasoning evenly over the chicken. Bake for 22-25 minutes or until the middle of the chicken reaches a temp of 165°.
Let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes before dicing or shredding and adding to the soup. Or you can really cheat and just use a shredded rotisserie chicken!

I was able to find the ingredients list on Pinterest, I bought the ingredients, and them when I wanted to actually make it, I can’t find the instructions anywhere! The recipe is no longer on the Kroger.com website. I just want to know when I am to add certain ingredients…. any ideas?

The recipe is still there- once the page loads just scroll down once or twice- I found it immediately. 🙂 http://smithsfoodanddrug.inspiredgathering.com/recipes/slow-cooker-chicken-alfredo-soup

Jennifer is right. Your link takes me to the main Kroger page and no amount of searching will turn up this recipe. Kroger is the WORST site to try to navigate ever – and shame on you for trying to convince people that the link is good.

How many servings does this recipe make?

I’m like you and could (and do) eat soup year-round! And also like you I’m super busy with my kiddos during the fall so this recipe is perfect for us! A delicious dinner will be ready and waiting for my family to gobble up after our busy day!

I could also eat soup everyday during the winter months. There is something so comforting to end your day with a warm bowl of soup.

too much garlic! 4 tablespoons overwhelmed the other flavors. too much butter, too. 1/4 cup gave the dish a greasy/fatty texture.
impossible to “cube” chicken that’s been in a crock pot for 5+ hours with this much liquid…my chicken basically shredded (which is fine, that didn’t bother me).
the cook times are way off also. it took a LOT longer than 60 minutes to bring the ingredients up to cook temperature after adding the cold milk, cold cream, cold cheeses
this might be worth making again with maybe 1 or 2 tablespoons of garlic and 1 or 2 tablespoons of butter and starting a lot earlier in the day

Thought it was very bland, so disappointed, made the stove top method.

So sorry it didn’t turn out for you! If you prefer more flavor, you could add a little extra chicken bouillon and season with salt and pepper to taste.

My daughter tried it and said she regretted wasting all the ingredients. She’s not a picky eater and will eat almost anything but not this recipe unfortunately.
She did say the cheeseburger one was delicious.

I’m sorry it didn’t turn out for her. It’s one of my kids favorites, so maybe something went wrong? I’m glad she liked the Cheeseburger Soup though!
