Christmas Jello Candy Melts are easy to make with just a few simple ingredients. This simple candy recipe can be made with any flavor of Jello – no cooking or baking required!

Christmas Jello Candy Melts are one of the simplest little treats to make and they are perfect for adding to goodie bags or taking to a holiday party. Add cherry and lime jello to add flavor and color to these tiny cream cheese candies.

CHRISTMAS JELLO CANDY MELTS
This simple holiday candy is made with powdered sugar, cream cheese, and Jello mix. Mix everything together and then roll small balls of the candy mixture before slightly flattening and dipping in sugar. The candy can be eaten immediately or stored in the refrigerator until ready to serve.

Ingredients in Christmas Jello Candy Melts
Powdered sugar – Powdered sugar is what makes this candy sweet and smooth! The recipe calls for 1 cup of powdered sugar, but you may have to add a bit more (up to 1 cup extra) to get the right consistency for shaping the candy into balls.
Cream cheese – Any variety of cream cheese will work well for this recipe. You can use regular, non-fat, or low-fat cream cheese. Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature before mixing with the powdered sugar, or it won’t work very well!
Jello – If you divide the dough in half, you will use 1 tablespoon of one flavor of Jello mix for each half. If you are making the entire batch one color, you will need 2 tablespoons of Jello mix to flavor all of it. To make red and green, divide the cream cheese mixture in half and use lime jello (or another green flavor like apple) for one half and cherry jello (or another red flavor) for the other half. Use different flavors/colors for other holidays and special occasions.
Sugar – You will need about 1/2 cup of sugar in a shallow bowl for coating the candy after it is shaped. This adds some texture and sweetness, makes the candy prettier, and also prevents it from sticking together!

HOW TO MAKE CHRISTMAS JELLO CANDY MELTS

Add the cream cheese and powdered sugar to a large bowl, and mix using a hand mixer until everything comes together.

If the mixture is still sticky add powdered sugar (up to another cup) until it is no longer sticky (slightly sticky is okay) and you can form some of it into a ball.

Divide the mixture into two separate bowls. Add the cherry jello powder to one bowl and the lime to the other.

Mix until completely mixed together and no white streaks show. Make sure to clean off the beaters before mixing the second color so you don’t mix colors.

Line a tray with parchment paper. Grab 1/2 an inch worth of one of the mixtures and roll it into a ball, slightly flatten it out using your thumb, and then dip each side in the sugar. Place on the parchment paper and repeat until you have none left. Refrigerate until you are ready to eat.

What kind of cream cheese do I use when making candy?
I usually use regular cream cheese, but you can use low-fat or non-fat cream cheese and the recipe will still work well.
How do you Soften Cream cheese?
Here in the US, cream cheese comes in an 8-oz brick wrapped in foil packaging. Most recipes call for softened cream cheese, which can be done in a few different ways:
- Microwave it! Just 20 seconds or so in the microwave will sufficiently soften cream cheese. Be sure to remove the foil packaging first and then place the cream cheese in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Hot towel wrap! This is what I tend to do most often. All you do is get a clean kitchen rag, get it soaking wet with hot water, then ring it out quickly and wrap the hot towel around the foil package of cream cheese. It takes just a few minutes and it’s softened!
- Let it sit out! If you can plan ahead, the absolute easiest way to soften cream cheese is just to let it sit on the counter for an hour or two. Easy!

How to store Christmas Jello Candy Melts
Store the candy in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
Festive Tips & Tricks for Jello Candy
- Make different colors. Divide the dough into however many sections you want and then add the Jello flavor of your choice and continue to mix the dough well until the color is fully incorporated into the dough. Red (cherry) and green (lime) work great for Christmas, but you can use different colors for different holidays and occasions.
- Create shapes! To make shapes other than circles, roll the dough out so it’s about 1/4″ thick and then use these to cut out the desired shapes or these fun holiday shapes! If you find that the cookie cutter is sticking to the dough, you can spray it with a little bit of non-stick cooking spray or dip it in melted butter and then dip in granulated sugar in between cutting each shape out.
