What are White Chocolate Pretzel Christmas Trees?
A stick of pretzel with white chocolate drizzled over the top to form the shape of a tree is what helps these little guys to get their namesake. They really do look like mini trees, but after adding on the festive and colorful holiday sprinkles, things get kicked up a notch and they become PERFECT for Christmas!
Christmas Pretzel Tree Ingredients
-Pretzel sticks: We will need about 15 pretzel sticks from a bag of stick pretzels (not the long rod ones, those would be much too large.
-White chocolate bark: You could also use 4 ounces of colored melting chocolate, white chocolate chips, or another type of chocolate, but white looks magical like snow.
-Holiday sprinkles: Seriously, get creative here. Add in M&Ms, pearl sprinkles, shaped sprinkles, or whatever else screams fun and festive to you. There’s no wrong answer here!
How to Make Christmas Tree Pretzels
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This will help to keep the chocolate from sticking to the baking sheet, but we don’t actually do any baking here.
Place your white chocolate in a Ziploc bag and then heat it in 30 second intervals in the microwave until it’s completely melted.
Cut a small corner off the bag and then carefully drizzle the melted chocolate over the pretzels to create a Christmas tree. It helps to move slowly from the top of the tree down to the base.
Add your sprinkles, gently pressing down any that are large and look like they’ll fall off easily.
Chill the baking sheet of trees and allow them to harden in the fridge. This won’t take long. Enjoy!

How do you melt chocolate in the microwave?
If you don’t want to use the Ziploc method mentioned above, you can use a microwave-safe bowl. For one cup of chocolate, I like to start off at 1 minute in the microwave and then let it sit for 2-3 minutes before stirring to make it nice and smooth. If it’s still a really solid feeling, add in a quick 20 second spin in the microwave and then let it sit again.
Often times, chocolate appears like it hasn’t been fully melted when in fact it has. You won’t really know until you stir and you could sit there stirring for several seconds before you notice the chocolate slowly dissolving into a melted mess in the bowl.
If your chocolate feels too thick, try adding in 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil or shortening and then allowing it to melt into the chocolate. It adds a little shine and safely thins down the chocolate without causing it to seize.
Can I add food coloring to the white chocolate?
Yes. White chocolate can be colored with food colorings, but it’s important to note what will and will not work. White chocolate (like other chocolates) will seize up when they come into contact with water. This is why you can NOT use liquid food coloring to color white chocolate. You can however use oil-based food colorings like those gel food coloring containers in the cake decorating section of Walmart and craft stores. They work nicely and a little bit goes a long way.
