Proceed to sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips over the top of the cake without mixing them in.
Place the mug in the microwave, on full power, for 2 minutes and 30 seconds.
Let the mug and cake cool for about 1-2 minutes after removing from the microwave, be careful, the mug might be hot.

How do I know when my mug cake is finished cooking?
The mug cake will look a little wet in the top center of the cake, but this is normal and it will dry as the cake rests for a minute outside of the microwave.
