What are Salted Brown Butter Blondies?
Salted brown butter blondies are a simple and easy chocolate chip packed blondie recipe that uses browned butter and sea salt to elevate it to a new level of awesome. With a sprinkling of sea salt on top and browned butter inside these blondies taste great. The nutty, salty, and chocolate flavors all come together to create a memorable bite.
Salted Brown Butter Blondies Ingredients
-Butter: We need 10 tablespoons of unsalted butter to get a good and rich tasting brownie.
-Brown sugar: With 3/4 cups of lightly packed light brown sugar we can have sweet blondies with a nice edge around the pan.
-Egg: One large egg will help to bind this brownie together and help with the texture as it bakes.
-Vanilla: We need 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract to get a good flavor. I like to use high-quality vanillas for an even better flavor enhancement.
-Flour: With 1 cup of all-purpose flour we have the gluten base these blondies need.
-Salt: 1/4 teaspoon of salt will help to enhance this blondie recipe so that the flavors are really incredible.
-Chocolate chips: Use 2/3rds cup of your favorite chocolate chips. You can use milk chocolate, white chocolate, or even semi-sweet!
-Flakey sea salt: We only need about 1/4 teaspoon for sprinkling over the top of the blondies. It really takes them to a new level of flavor.
How to Make Salted Brown Butter Blondies
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line an 8×8 baking dish with parchment paper.
In a skillet over medium heat, melt the butter. Cook it until it smells nutty and brown bits form at the bottom of the pan. This can take approximately 5 minutes after the butter has melted. Cool the butter to room temperature. Don’t add hot butter to the batter!
When the butter has cooled, stir together the butter (including the browned bits), the brown sugar, egg, vanilla, flour, salt, and chocolate chips in a large bowl.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and then smooth out the top.
Sprinkle with flakey sea salt.
Bake until the blondies are nice and golden in color. This is about 20-25 minutes. Be careful not to overbake.
Let cool completely before cutting. Enjoy!

When I first read the ingredients list, I thought, “This is gonna be kinda bland.” After mixing and placing in the oven, I reviewed the recipe several times worrying that this is so simple that I must have missed something. I did not miss anything.
I baked them. Cooled them. Then tried one. WOW! The browned butter takes these simple blondies to…I don’t know what to say without using a cliche…
These things are dangerous good. I must resist the urge to eat the entire batch without breathing between bites.

These Blondies are not only fantastic, they’re so easy and quick to make! They have an underlying taste of toffee that makes these a little different from basic Blondies, and really special. Browning the butter is the delicious reason for this unique tasting dessert! 😋😋😋

In hindsight, I should have mixed the wet ingredients together separately before adding the flour and salt, instead of mixing everything together as directed. Instead of a “batter” I ended up with what looked like cookie dough, and struggled to press it all down into the pan. Perhaps I let my brown butter mixture cool too much so that it began to coagulate, and did not provide enough liquid to mix in with the flour. In any case, the pan is currently baking in the oven so I will see how it turns out!

I’ve done that too- and it all works out! I actually prefer it since it’s easier clean up. I’ve now gotten in the habit of browning my butter the night before, so it’s more solid.
