How much milk do you use to make a milkshake?
How much milk you use to make a milkshake depends on how much you are making. This recipe makes 4 milkshakes and uses 3/4 cup of milk. Less milk means a thicker milkshake, but it’s also more difficult to blend.
Will a milkshake melt in the fridge?
Putting a milkshake in the fridge will keep it cool but it won’t keep it frozen. The best way to store a milkshake is to put it in your freezer, then let it thaw before eating it.
Can you make a milkshake with Almond Milk?
You can, but it will taste a little different and be a little bit less sweet. However, bananas are a natural sweetener, so some people don’t notice the decrease in sugar!
Ingredients needed to make a Banana Split Milkshake:
- frozen sliced ripe bananas
- milk
- vanilla ice cream
- Optional: hot fudge, peanuts, whipped cream & cherries
How to make a Banana Split Milkshake:
Preparing a Banana Split Milkshake is so unbelievably easy. To start, you are going to want to lay down some parchment paper on a 9 x 11 cookie sheet. Then cut up 4 1/2 cups of ripe bananas, and put them on the cookie sheet. Freeze those for a minimum of 3 to 4 hours.
When you’re feeling ready for some milkshake, take the bananas out, and put them in the blender with a 3/4 cup of milk. Blend until smooth, scraping the sides of the blender as needed.
Add in 7-8 scoops of vanilla ice cream, and blend until smooth. Transfer to glasses, preferably tall glass ones. Top off with hot fudge, peanuts, whipped cream and cherries as desired.
To make it a little more aesthetic, I pour in a layer of milkshake, then do a layer of fudge, then repeat until it’s full. You also get more fudge this way!
How can I ripen bananas quickly?
Ripe bananas are used in this milkshake recipe because they have a stronger, more pronounced flavor. There are several ways to help bananas ripen faster so that you can freeze them to make milkshakes. Here are my preferred methods:
- Ripen bananas in the oven. Heat the oven to 350º F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Place bananas peel and all on the parchment and bake for 30-40 minutes, until peels are black & shiny. Let cool 1 hour and then slice and freeze.
- Ripen bananas in a paper bag. If you have more time, place bananas in a paper bag with an apple. Fold and secure closed. I usually leave bananas like this for a full day, then proceed with the recipe.

Excellent recipe, simple and pretty good, I added nilla wafers to the blender also, gives it a little crunch and adds to the banana pudding taste.
