What’s in Strawberry Krispie Treats?
- Freeze Dried Strawberries—Adding 2 cups will give these cereal bars tons of natural strawberry flavor without adding unnecessary moisture.
- Strawberry Jell-O Powder—Just 2 TBSP gives these treats a nice pink color and additional strawberry flavor.
- Rice Krispie Cereal—You’ll need 4 cups of this favorite small, crunchy cereal.
- Mini Marshmallows—2 1/4 cups will melt more evenly than big marshmallows.
- Butter—1/4 cup salted butter adds richness and helps to keep your marshmallows from sticking to everything.
How to Make Strawberry Krispie Treats
Coat a 9×13 inch baking dish in butter or nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
Melt the butter in a large pot before adding the marshmallows. Stir the marshmallows over medium heat until they are completely melted.
Whisk in the Jell-O powder until it is fully incorporated into the melted marshmallows.
Fold the rice krispie cereal into the marshmallow mixture until it is evenly coated. Once the cereal is coated in the marshmallow mixture, fold in the freeze dried strawberries until they are evenly distributed throughout the rice krispie treats mix.
Pour the cereal mixture into the baking dish and allow the mixture to chill in the fridge for 1 hour.
Cut the rice krispie treats into bars, serve, and enjoy!

How far in advance can I make Rice Krispy treats for a party?
These strawberry rice krispie treats are a great make-ahead dessert! They will stay fresh in an airtight container on the counter for up to 4 days, meaning that you can easily make them a day or two before your party.
What happens if you put too much butter in Rice Krispie treats?
Because these cereal bars are meant to be chewy and crispy, you want to avoid adding a lot of moisture. Adding too much butter will result in a rice krispie that is soggy and might even fall apart.
How do you cut Rice Krispie treats neatly?
These strawberry rice krispies slice up best when they’re completely set, but not so cold that they’re rock hard. To ensure that your bars are the right texture, cool them in the fridge (never the freezer!) for one hour before slicing. Once sliced, you can store these treats however you’d like.
How to Store and Serve Easy Strawberry Rice Krispie Treats
I recommend storing your sliced strawberry Rice Krispie treats in an airtight container. These sweet and fruity dessert bars will stay fresh on the counter for up to 4 days, in the fridge for up to 1 week, or in the freezer for up to 3 months. I find that these leftover cereal bars are best served cold or room temperature, not frozen.
These pink Rice Krispie treats are beautiful on their own, but are even prettier when topped with a drizzle of white chocolate, colorful sprinkles, or sliced strawberries (freeze dried or fresh). I also highly recommend serving them alongside a tall glass of ice-cold milk.
Recipe Variations
Not a big fan of strawberries? You can make these flavored Rice Krispie treats with any freeze dried fruit! Try using freeze dried mangos, blueberries, peaches, or raspberries instead.
If you can’t find freeze dried strawberries at your local grocery store, you can swap them out for dried strawberries or even fresh strawberries. If you use fresh strawberries, be sure to store the finished cereal bars in the fridge, not on the counter.
You can make these strawberry cereal bars with any kind of neutral-tasting cereal, not just puffed rice. Try using some Chex, Cheerios, or Corn Flakes instead.
Expert Tips and Tricks for the BEST Rice Krispie Treats EVER!
- Don’t want to have marshmallow and cereal sticking to your fingers? Get your hands a little wet before handling the cereal mixture. This will keep your hands nice and clean!
- Make sure that you grease your baking dish super well before adding the cereal and marshmallow mixture. You don’t want your strawberry Rice Krispie treats to stick to the dish!
- Instead of slicing these strawberry cereal bars into squares, use cookie cutters to cut them into fun shapes. This is perfect for kid’s lunches or birthday parties!
