Easter Krispie Treats Ingredients
-Peeps: You will need 5 different colored 3-ounce packages of marshmallow peeps for these happy treats.
-Butter: Using 5 tablespoons of butter or Crisco will help melt the peeps down to a nice smooth texture.
-Rice Krispies: You will need 6 ½ cups of rice krispie cereal for the base of this recipe.
How to Make Peeps Krispie Treats
Prep
Start by separating all of the different colored peeps from one another and place them into 5 separate microwave-safe bowls. You want the bowls to be large enough to fit the melted marshmallow and some rice crispies too.
Melt Marshmallows
Next, add 1 tablespoon of butter to each bowl.
One by one, heat each bowl in the microwave for 1 minute. Then stir until smooth. Repeat in 10 second intervals as needed until completely melted. Be careful, marshmallow melts quickly, you don’t want to burn them.
Once all have been melted, divide the rice crispies into each bowl. This will be about 1 ⅓ cups of cereal per bowl. Stir thoroughly to coat the cereal well.
If you want to complete one bowl at a time, melting the marshmallows and adding the crispies, that would work as well. Whatever works best for you, the end results will be the same.
Stack the Layers
Next, lightly spray the inside of a loaf pan with cooking spray.
Then, using a spoon or clean hands, press the crispies into the pan.
Start with a blue layer one bottom, pressing into an even layer.
Then, spread and press the purple layer on top of the blue one.
Continue doing the same with the green, pink, and yellow layer, until all colors have been added.
Set, Slice and Serve
Cover the pan with foil or plastic wrap and let sit for about 2 hours until it has had time to set.
Once set, remove the foil and flip the pan over to remove the treats onto a cutting board.
Carefully slice the brick into 1 inch thick slices.
Serve and enjoy your festive treats!

How do I prevent my rice crispie treats from drying out and getting stale?
A trick I learned a couple years ago is to use a slice of bread. If you have a couple of Rice Krispie Treats left that have begun to harden, then place a slice of bread into the container overnight. The moisture from the bread will make the Rice Krispie Treats soft again.
