Sugared Asparagus recipe made with brown sugar, butter and chicken broth. Perfect balance of sweet and savory for a simple asparagus recipe that is made on the stove in just a few minutes.
Asparagus is one of my favorite vegetables (which is saying a lot because I’m not a big veggie fan), but I usually just eat it roasted with a little olive oil and salt. I recently found this recipe and decided to give it a try. I love the subtle sweetness of the brown sugar – there is just enough flavor to really complement the taste of the asparagus.

How to cook asparagus on the stove
Asparagus can be roasted, sauteed or steamed. This particular recipe uses a little bit of a combination of methods to cook the asparagus to perfection. All you need is one skillet with a lid. The asparagus is sauteed in the butter and brown sugar for a few minutes and then simmered in chicken broth for a few minutes while the lid is on so that the steam can help to cook the vegetable.
