How to Make Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bars
In a saucepan over medium heat, melt your butter. The butter will become foamy and bubble. Cook until the butter solids at the bottom of the pan turn a deep golden brown and then immediately remove the pan from the heat.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line a 9×9 baking dish with parchment paper.
Whisk together the flour, spices, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium-sized bowl. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the brown sugar and granulated sugar. Then add in the brown butter, egg, pumpkin puree, and vanilla. Stir until combined.
Add in the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips, but reserve 2 tablespoons for topping.
Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth it out evenly with a rubber spatula. Sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top of the pumpkin bars.
Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick can be inserted into the middle and come out clean.
Sprinkle sea salt over the top if desired. Let the bars cool completely before cutting and serving.
Enjoy!
