How to make Easy Cinnamon Apple Biscuits
Prep
Start by preheating the oven to 425°F. If you are using a 10″ cast iron skillet, place the pan on a stove burner and set to low heat to begin heating the pan up. If you’re using a 9×13 pan, spray with non-stick spray and set aside.
Biscuit dough
In a medium size bowl, beat the egg using a whisk or fork. Then, stir in the buttermilk and vanilla extract. After that, add the flour to buttermilk mixture, about ⅓ of the total amount at a time, stirring until combined between each addition.
Next, in a small separate bowl, combine the baking powder, baking soda, salt & sugar. Proceed to pour this mixture onto the dough and stir to combine.
Now, slice 4 TBSP butter into several small cubes and soften in the microwave for a few seconds. Then mix the butter with a fork into the dough mixture until everything is incorporated.
Add apple
Chop the apple into small cubes, you can use an apple core and then dice the apple slices to simplify this step.
Next, place the diced apples in a small bowl and top with the cinnamon. Stir, then microwave for 1 minute. Add the softened apples to the biscuit dough and stir to combine.
Assemble
Place the remaining 2 TBSP of butter in whatever pan you’re cooking the biscuits in. (I love using my 10″ cast iron skillet. If you’d like, you can also use a 10″ springform cake pan or even a 9×13 pan.) You want to place biscuits in a hot pan where you’ve melted the 2 TBSP butter, so if you’re using cast iron, you can preheat the pan on the stovetop. All other pans need to be placed in the oven with the butter, then remove once butter is melted.
Scoop out about 3 TBSP worth of dough, shape it into a ball and arrange in the melted butter around the pan. Continue this step until all the dough is formed and in the pan.
Bake
Place the biscuits in the preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes. Let cool for a few minutes before transferring to a serving plate or breadbasket.
Serve biscuits warm, topped with a simple glaze if desired. Enjoy!
Simple glaze instructions: Whisk together ½ cup powdered sugar + 2 TBSP melted butter + 1 TBSP milk. Drizzle on top of warm biscuits.

HOW DO I KEEP MY BISCUITS FRESH LONGER?
One easy way to keep biscuits fresher longer is to push all the excess air from the bag before it is sealed. Air in the bag will make the bread dry out faster. Also, you can wrap each one individually to keep it nice and fresh. If stored properly, biscuits will last up to 3-5 days.
CAN YOU FREEZE HOMEMADE BISCUITS?
These tasty biscuits can be frozen and stored for up to 3 months. When you are ready to enjoy, let thaw on the counter for an hour. You can even heat them up for 10 minutes or so in the oven set at 350 degrees F.
