Can you freeze poke cakes?
The simple answer is yes! Freezing your poke cake makes it a ready to go dessert when you have a last minute get together or party. To freeze the cake, just be sure to wrap it tightly with plastic wrap before freezing. Some people even add an extra layer of protection and wrap it with aluminum foil over the plastic wrap. It will last about 1 month in the freezer. Leave out at room temperature to defrost.
What is the best type of pan to use for poke cakes?
For Poke Cakes I am partial to using large baking pans, because I like to spread out the deliciousness. I typically use a 9×13 pan to create a sheet cake, which means there is more cake to go around. You can also use a regular cake pan, but those are more shallow and the holes you create won’t be very large. The 9×13 pan is typically a bit deeper and creates great space to poke the holes and fill them up!
