Cocoa Puffs poke cake ingredients
-Cake mix: You will need an 18.25 ounce sized box of chocolate cake mix. Boxed cake mixes come in different sizes so keep an eye out so that you grab the correct one.
-Milk: We want a total of 4 cups of milk, but it will be divided throughout the recipe.
-Eggs: 2 large eggs will help to make the cake perfect because the eggs help with the texture and binding of the cake.
-Butter: We need 1/2 cup of melted and cooled butter to help us get a rich tasting cake.
-Chocolate pudding: Chocolate pudding will be poured over the cake to create a moist and flavorful poke cake, we will need a small 3 ounce sized box to do this.
-Cocoa Puffs: With 2 cups of Cocoa Puffs we can decorate our poke cake and make it look irresistibly good.
-Whipped topping: Use a 16 ounce tub of whipped topping such as Cool Whip or another brand.
-Cocoa powder: We want 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder because it’s going to flavor the whipped topping and make our cake chocolate-brown from top to bottom.

How long is poke cake good for?
This poke cake will be good for about 2-3 days in the fridge. Keep it covered well to avoid drying out or creating a hard “skin” over the top. Also, if planning to make this cake in advance it’s best to wait to add the Cocoa Puffs until ready to serve so that they don’t become stale.
How do you poke a poke cake?
I find that using the handle of a wooden spoon works best for me as the holes are perfectly sized and there is a handle to hold onto. You could also use a fork, butterknife, toothpick, or dowel rod depending on what you have on hand. You don’t want the holes too small but you also don’t want them to be larger than a dime.
