Do You Have to Refrigerate Cream Cheese Frosted Cookies?
For food safety reasons, yes. Once frosted, your red velvet Valentine cookies should be stored in the fridge and not the counter. This will keep the cookies from spoiling and ou from getting sick.
Is Red Velvet Just Chocolate?
Yes and No. Red velvet is made with a chocolate base but there are added ingredients that change the flavors and textures so that they aren’t identical to chocolate. The red food coloring also helps to give it the traditional color, but that’s strictly for appearances.

How Do You Store Frosted Cookies?
Your decorated red velvet cookies should be stored inside of an airtight container within the fridge. You can choose to place them in a Ziploc style bag where the frosting may clump the cookies together or you can place them in layers in a Tupperware style container with parchment or wax paper layered between each row so that the cookies aren’t directly stacked on top of one another.
Can You Freeze Frosted Cookies?
Yes you can! Thankfully the cream cheese in the frosting freezes very well so this is a great way to get longer storage out of your cookies. You can keep them in an airtight container for up to 3 months.
I recommend freezing the frosted cookies on a flat baking sheet until solid before transferring to an airtight container or Ziploc style bag. This will help to prevent the cookies from sticking to each other.
