Easy Valentine’s Donut Ingredients
Refrigerated Biscuit Dough – This is the shortcut base that makes these donuts quick and fluffy without the need for yeast or rising time.
Canola Oil – Used for frying, it creates a golden, crisp exterior while keeping the donuts soft and tender inside.
Pink Cream Filling
Heavy Whipping Cream – Whipped into a light, fluffy filling that adds richness and a creamy surprise in the center of each donut.
Granulated Sugar – Sweetens the whipped cream just enough without overpowering it.
Almond Extract – Adds a subtle, bakery-style flavor that elevates the cream filling.
Red Food Coloring – Gives the filling its fun pink color, perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Easy Chocolate Glaze
Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips – Melt into a smooth, rich glaze that balances sweetness with deep chocolate flavor.
Heavy Cream (for glaze) – Helps create a silky, pourable chocolate glaze that coats the donuts beautifully.
Butter – Adds richness and shine to the chocolate glaze.
Vanilla Glaze Topping
Butter – Adds richness and a smooth, glossy finish, helping it set beautifully on the donuts.
Powdered Sugar – Forms the smooth, classic base of the vanilla glaze.
Vanilla Extract – Enhances the sweetness and gives the glaze a warm, familiar flavor.
Milk – Thins the vanilla glaze to the perfect dipping consistency.
How long are these Valentine’s Donuts good for?
These donuts are best enjoyed the same day, but they’ll stay fresh for 1–2 days at room temperature if stored in an airtight container. Because they’re cream-filled, freezing isn’t recommended once assembled—the filling can separate and lose its fluffy texture when thawed.
If you want to prep ahead, you can freeze the plain fried donuts (unfilled and unglazed) for up to 1 month, then thaw at room temperature and fill and glaze fresh before serving for the best texture and flavor.

EASY VALENTINES DONUTS
Ingredients
- 8 count can refrigerated biscuit dough I used Pillsbury Grand Homestyle Buttermilk biscuits
- 2 cups canola oil
Pink Cream Filling
- ¾ cup heavy whipping cream
- 2 TBSP granulated sugar
- ½ tsp almond extract
- 3-4 drops red coloring
Easy Chocolate Glaze
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ⅓ cup heavy cream
- ½ TBSP butter
Vanilla Glaze
- 2 TBSP butter melted
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 TBSP milk
Instructions
- Pour 2 cups of canola oil into a medium sized saucepan or cast iron skillet and begin heating on medium-low heat (I set mine at level 4.)
- Open the biscuit dough and separate. Use a heart cookie cutter roughly the same size as each biscuit to punch a heart shape from it. Repeat on each biscuit. Combine the scraps and flatten them into an oval shape 1/2″ thick. Punch additional heart shapes until the remainder of the dough is used.
- Check the temperature of the oil using a meat thermometer– it needs to read 350 degrees F. Increase heat gradually if necessary.
- Once oil is ready, drop biscuit hearts into the oil. Let cook for about 2 minutes, then turn and cook an additional 2 minutes on the other side. This process of cooking the donuts goes very fast, so have a paper towel covered plate ready to set the donut hearts on when cooked. Donuts should be a nice golden brown.
- Cream filling: Combine all ingredients and mix on high for 4-5 minutes, until soft peaks form. Transfer to a frosting bag to pipe into cooled donuts.
- Chocolate glaze: Heat the cream and butter in the microwave for 2 minutes. Add chocolate chips and microwave for 30 additional seconds. Let mixture sit, then whisk gently until smooth. Let chocolate glaze cool for about 5 minutes before dipping donuts and covering in sprinkles.
- Vanilla Glaze: Whisk all ingredients together until smooth. Dip donuts and cover with Valentine's sprinkles.
- Let donuts cool completely before adding filling and toppings. Once cooled, pierce a small side of each donut and pipe in some of the pink whipped cream. Dip each donut in your preferred topping, then immediately turn glaze side up on a cooling rack. Sprinkle with Valentine's sprinkles. Let cool until set & enjoy!

Can I use a different type of biscuit dough?
Yes! Any refrigerated biscuit dough works, but a flaky, buttermilk-style biscuit gives the best texture.
Can I bake these instead of frying?
You could, but they won’t get the same golden, crisp exterior—frying is what gives them that classic donut texture.
How do I prevent the whipped cream from leaking?
Make sure the donuts are completely cooled before piping in the filling, and use a sturdy piping bag or plastic bag with a small corner snipped.
Can I make these without food coloring?
Absolutely! The pink color is just for Valentine’s flair—the cream will still taste delicious without it.

I tried these this morning……350 was way too hot and the 2 minutes on each side was way too long. biscuits started to burn on the outside and were raw in the middle. Guess next tine I’ll try lower temp and see how they turn out. Any suggestions/ideas???
