Festive Valentine’s Chocolate Bark
You may have heard the term chocolate bark before, it is generally a sheet of melted chocolate that is covered in candy, dried fruit or nuts. It is then broken up into non-uniform pieces, resembling the ragged bark broken off from a tree. Luckily, this bark is much tastier than its namesake! This recipe for white chocolate bark is specifically for Valentine’s Day, we use red and pink candies on top to create this festive treat. I love making chocolate bark because it is one of the simplest treats you can make, plus it’s so festive. You can use any candy you’d like. I like using gummy candies because the contrast between the hard chocolate and the candy tastes good. Have fun with it!

Semi sweet chocolate chips: Use a ¼ cup of semi sweet chocolate chips to create a second delicious layer in this bark.
Candy: For some festive flare and tasty addition to this chocolate treat, use 3-4 different types of Valentines candy. Whatever your preference is will be great!

How to make Easy Valentine Candy Bark
Melt chocolate
Start by pouring each type of chocolate in a separate small bowl, the white chocolate chips and the semi sweet chocolate chips. Microwave the white chocolate for about 1 minute 30 seconds, adding more time in increments of 15 seconds as needed, until chocolate is smooth and melted. I find chocolate is actually melted before it looks melted- be sure to gently stir before adding more time in the microwave. Once it’s nearly melted, I just let it sit on the counter for another minute or so and the heat from the bowl melts it the rest of the way.
Assemble
Next, line a small pan with parchment paper. I used a bakers quarter sheet, but a 9×13 works well too.
Proceed to pour the melted white chocolate into the prepared pan, then tilt the pan and tap it gently on the counter until the chocolate has nearly covered the pan. Next, spoon out 4 lines of the semi sweet chocolate, running them across the white chocolate layer. After that, use a knife to cut through the lines, curving around at the ends of the sheet, to make a swirling pattern.
If desired, place come candies on top of the chocolate to your liking. I don’t like to use a ton, as it’s fun to see the chocolate swirls. After you have placed the candies on the chocolate, shake some sprinkles on top too for some added festive appearance.
Chill
Place the pan in the refrigerator and let the chocolate cool until firm, it typically will be chilled in about 1 hour. If you are in a hurry, you can place the pan in the freezer, then it’s done in about 10 minutes.
Continue to cut the chocolate bark into small pieces using a knife, serve and ENJOY!

HOW DO I STORE HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE BARK?
You can store this chocolate treat for about 1 week at room temperature (maybe longer, but it never lasts that long at my house). These bark pieces taste great chilled too, so you can store them in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 weeks in an airtight container.
HOW DO I PACKAGE VALENTINE BARK TO GIVE AS A GIFT?
I recommend packaging it in clear holiday cellophane bags so that everyone can see the pretty treats inside. It’s a pretty classic treat, so it’s also fun when people recognize what it is and get excited! The bags come with silver twist ties that allow you to close the bags well, so the treat stays fresh.
