Easy and Delicious Caramel Dips
I have made a caramel dip recipe for years that I really love, but I wanted to try a couple other recipes to try something new. So the other day I got my original recipe, found two others that looked good but had completely different ingredients, and I made all three. I tasted all of them and was having a really hard time picking a favorite, they are just all soooo good! So I took them to a family dinner where I had about 15 people cast their votes, but there still wasn’t a clear winner. Although two of the recipes beat out the other one. The result of all of this research? Three fabulous caramel dips that are all quite different from each other, use very different ingredients, yet will all still satisfy those caramel cravings.
What do you dip in Caramel Dips?
The most popular and favorite thing to dip in caramel is sliced apples, this pairing is simply amazing. We Some other great dippers would be bananas, graham crackers, pretzels, or even marshmallows. Or for some extra sweet deliciousness, pick up some cinnamon chips at your local store and give that a try. If you need a fun idea for a kid party, serve this caramel dip along side some animal crackers or vanilla wafers. All these are great ideas for what to dip in these incredible caramel dips!
Recipe #1 Ingredients
Cream cheese: The base of this tasty recipe is one 8-ounce block of cream cheese.
Sugar: Add in a 1/4 cup of white granulated sugar to sweeten this dip up perfectly.
Brown sugar: Using 3/4 cups of brown sugar will give this dip the caramel flavor that we are aiming for.
Vanilla extract: To enhance the wonderful flavors in this recipe, add in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
How to make Recipe #1 Caramel Sauce
In a saucepan, over medium heat, mix together the cream cheese, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla extract until everything has melted. Stir regularly as the mixture melts, combine all the ingredients together well.
You can serve this caramel sauce warm or chilled, this recipe does not harden when cooled like most other caramels. It has the amazing caramel flavor, but with a lovely soft texture.
Serve immediately and enjoy!
Recipe #2 Ingredients
Condensed milk: You will need one 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk for the base of this dipping sauce.
Butterscotch chips: Using 1 cup of butterscotch chips will create the perfect flavor and consistency for this dip.
Salt: Add in 1/4 teaspoon of salt to help balance the flavors in this delicious sauce.
White vinegar: To create great caramel sauce texture, use 1 teaspoon of white vinegar.
Cinnamon: Using 2 teaspoons of cinnamon will give this dipping sauce amazing warm flavor. If you do not want a strong cinnamon taste, use half this amount.
How to make Recipe #2 Caramel Sauce
Start by combining the condensed milk and butterscotch chips in a medium saucepan, cook over medium heat for 3 minutes. Then add in the salt, white vinegar and cinnamon. Stir the mixture constantly until the ingredients have melted completely and heated all the way through.
This caramel is best served warm, as it does harden when cooled. Serve immediately and enjoy!
Note: This caramel sauce recipe has a very strong cinnamon flavor, which I really loved (and so did everyone else!). However, if you don’t think you want it to taste quite so strong, start with half the given amount and taste test to see what you think. Be careful, it will be hot so make sure to bring the tasting sample to a cooler temperature before trying it.
Recipe #3 Ingredients
Sugar: You will need 1 1/2 cups of white sugar to create this amazing caramel dipping sauce.
Corn syrup: To create the best sauce consistency, add in 1 cup of light corn syrup.
Salt: Add in 1 teaspoon of salt to help round out all the great flavors in this dip.
Heavy cream: Use 2 cups of heavy cream for the base of this creamy caramel sauce.
Butter: For a rich tasting dip, add in 1/2 cup of butter, at room temperature.
Vanilla extract: To enhance all the amazing flavors in this recipe, add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
How to make Recipe #3 Caramel Sauce
In a large heavy saucepan, combine the white sugar, corn syrup and salt. Bring this mixture to a boil and heat to 234-240 degrees F (soft ball stage). At this point, stir in the butter and heavy cream carefully, the mixture will bubble up. Be sure to use a large pan because this bubbles up quite a bit. I used a 3 1/2 quart saucepan and it wasn’t quite big enough.
Continue to keep stirring and boiling the mixture until the temperature goes back up to about 240 degrees F. This takes about 10 minutes, if the temperature isn’t going back up, just keep stirring and it will get there.
Once it reaches 240 degrees F, immediately remove the pan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes before serving.
This dip is best served warm, serve alongside your choice of dipping food and enjoy!

Notes
WHAT ARE THE BEST TYPES OF APPLES TO USE FOR THESE DIPS?
You can use whatever apples you have on hand, or pick up your favorite, any kind will taste great with this dip. I love Granny Smith apples along with Pink Lady or Fiji apples. The red and green colors brighten up the serving dish and it looks lovely. If you are an apple lover, try some other delicious apple dip recipes like this 2-ingredient apple dip and the chocolate peanut butter apple dip.
HOW DO YOU KEEP THE APPLES SLICES FROM GETTING BROWN?
You can slice the apples just before serving, but if you need to slice them in advance, there are a couple of tricks for keeping the apple slices from turning brown. The best way to prevent the apple slices from browning is to toss them in a bowl filled with a little bit of cold water mixed with 1-2 tablespoons of lemon juice. This will prevent the apples from getting brown and will keep them looking pretty and fresh.
You can also sprinkle a little bit of lemon juice directly on top of the apples, but I have found that submerging the apple slices in the cold water mixed with lemon juice seems to work even better, and it also dilutes the lemon flavor quite a bit which I prefer! You can also brush them with a little bit of soda (Sprite or Ginger Ale) or you can sprinkle Fruit-Fresh on top of them.
Store the apples in the refrigerator in an airtight container until you are ready to serve them.
