Pumpkin Spice Donuts are made in minutes with crescent dough & an incredible pumpkin spice glaze. These hot & fresh donuts are easy to make!
These Pumpkin Spice Donuts were a variation my donut-loving family absolutely loved! They’re so simple and easy to make. The pumpkin glaze on top is perfect for this time of year. In Fall, you can find the Pumpkin Spice Pudding Mix on the baking aisle of most grocery stores. I found mine at Walmart.
What are pumpkin spice donuts?
These donuts are an easier way to make homemade donuts in the comfort of your own home and without all of the extra work. Traditionally donuts take hours to make, prep, rise, etc. This “cheater” way cuts down significantly on the time spent and you can have donuts ready in about 15 minutes. Perfect for a faster breakfast or dessert option and full of delicious Autumn flavors.
Easy Pumpkin Spice Donuts Ingredients
Butter: Using 2 tablespoons of butter in the glaze we can make the flavor much richer in taste.
Milk: We need 3 tablespoons of milk but the actual amount might vary slightly to get the glaze to your desired consistency.
Corn syrup: Using 1 tablespoon of corn syrup will help to thicken the donut glaze and add a nice shine.
Pudding mix: We need to use 3 tablespoons of the dry mix from a box of pumpkin pie spice pudding. This is the instant pudding and you can make the box as per directions using the remaining amount without a noticeable difference.
Powdered sugar: The base of our glaze is 1 cup of powdered sugar which makes it smooth and sweet.
Oil: We need 2 cups of canola oil to fry these donuts up. It should be an inch or two tall in the pan so that there’s plenty of oil to cook the donuts.
Canned biscuits: We need to use a tube of those canned biscuits you find in the fridge section of the grocery store. You can select the cheaper off-brand versions or go for the fancier ones. Both work well but you may find that you prefer one over the other.
How to make Easy 15-minute pumpkin spice donuts
Pour your two cups of canola oil into a medium-sized saucepan and heat over medium-low heat.
Open your canned biscuits and separate them. If desired, stretch into bars or cut the centers out to make round donuts.
In a small bowl combine the butter, milk, and corn syrup in a small bowl. Whisk in the pudding mix (just the dry stuff) and the powdered sugar until smooth. The glaze will set up but you can place it in the microwave to soften and whisk to make it smooth again as needed.
Check the temperature of the oil. You want the oil to be about 350 degrees F. Adjust heat as necessary. Once the oil is ready, add your donuts one at a time, carefully.
Cook for about 2 minutes per side until golden color and then remove to place on a paper towel-lined plate while you cook the others.
Let the donuts cool for a few minutes then whisk the glaze and dip the tops of the donut into the glaze. Immediately place them glaze side up on a wire rack until set.
Repeat this process until all of the donuts have been fried and glazed.
Enjoy!
15-MINUTE PUMPKIN SPICE DONUTS
Ingredients
- 2 TBSP melted butter
- 3 TBSP milk
- 1 TBSP corn syrup
- 3 TBSP dry pumpkin pie spice pudding mix
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups canola oil for frying
- 1 8- ct package refrigerated biscuit dough
Instructions
- Pour 2 cups of canola oil into a medium sized saucepan and begin heating on medium-low heat (I set mine at 4.)
- Open the biscuit dough and separate. To make bars, gently stretch the biscuits into an oblong shape, as opposed to the round shape they come in. To make regular circle donuts, separate each biscuit and cut out a small circle in the center of each biscuit using a biscuit cutter, or a soda bottle cap.
- Combine butter, milk and corn syrup in a small bowl. Whisk in pumpkin spice pudding mix and powdered sugar until smooth. Glaze will set up, so return it to the microwave if needed to soften and whisk smooth again.
- Check the temperature of the oil using a meat thermometer– it needs to read 350 degrees F. Increase heat gradually if necessary.
- Once oil is ready, drop donuts in and let cook for about 2 minutes, then turn and cook an additional 2 minutes on the other side. This process of cooking the doughnuts goes very fast, so have a paper towel covered plate ready to set the bars on when cooked. Bars should be a nice golden brown.
- Let donuts cool for a few minutes, then whisk the glaze to make sure it’s smooth enough to dip each bar. Dip the bar, then immediately turn glaze side up on a cooling rack.
- Repeat this process until all bars are fried and glazed. They’re best eaten within an hour, but even the next morning they’re amazing!

How long are homemade donuts good for?
Donuts are always best when fresh but these donuts can stand at room temperature (in a covered container) for up to 2-3 days if needed. Keep in mind the donuts may become stale as they age. For softening and recreating a similar fresh taste, consider microwaving them for a few seconds to warm the donuts.
Can I use any pudding flavor?
If you want to get creative and the pumpkin pie spice pudding mix isn’t on the store shelves, you can easily swap it out for a different variety of instant pudding mix. Cheesecake flavor, butterscotch, pistachio, etc. the list goes on and on.

What can i substitute the corn syrup for if i don’t have any
Nicole says
You might be able to use honey in place of the corn syrup but I haven’t personally tested this so I do not know for certain.
