LUSH DESSERTS
Lush desserts are a popular layered no-bake dessert that comes in endless flavor combinations. A typical lush dessert has a few things in common despite the final flavor. The majority are made up of 4 basic layers:
- No Bake Cookie Crumb Crust
- Sweet whipped Cream Cheese layer
- Pudding layer
- Whipped topping layer on top
As I said, there are endless combinations of these basic layers! Lemon Lush and Chocolate Lush are very popular desserts. I absolutely love this version though because of all of the fresh strawberries on top! I think that this Strawberry Lush cake is my favorite!

INGREDIENTS FOR STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE LUSH
- Golden Oreos – This will be used for the crust of the lush. Leave that yummy filling inside! I like to use a blender or food processor to make the cookie crumbs but feel free to place them into a baggie and smash them with a rolling pin.
- Butter – For best results, use real butter. Adding the melted butter to the cookie crumbs will form the crust for the strawberry-layered dessert.
- Cream Cheese – Any variety of cream cheese will work. Regular, low-fat, and non-fat cream cheese all work just fine in the recipe. Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature before adding to the other ingredients.
- Powdered Sugar – Adds the perfect amount of sweetness to the cream cheese layer.
- Whipped Topping- The whipped topping will be divided and used for two parts of this dessert. Half of it will go into the cream cheese layer and the other half will be reserved for the top of the lush dessert.
- Cheesecake Pudding – Adds the cheesecake flavor to this dessert! Make sure to use instant pudding mix.
- Milk – Any type of milk is fine, even non-dairy alternatives. The milk is used to mix with the pudding to make the custard layer of the strawberry lush cake.
- Strawberries – Use tons of fresh strawberries on top! This is my favorite part of the whole dessert – I love strawberries! You could replace these with raspberries to make a raspberry cheesecake version if you prefer!

HOW TO MAKE A LAYERED LUSH DESSERT
Making a lush dessert doesn’t take much time or work. If you can operate an electric hand mixer, you’re golden!
The Crust: To make the crust, combine the cookie crumbs with the melted butter and press into the bottom of your pan. I like to use the back of a measuring cup to help press and pack the crust tightly.
Cream Cheese Layer: To make the cream cheese layer, combine the cream cheese, powdered sugar, and whipped topping until smooth. Spread the cream cheese layer on top of the crust.
Pudding Layer: The pudding layer is mixed by first whisking together the pudding mix and milk and let it sit until it has thickened up slightly. Then, slowly stir in the remaining whipped topping until smooth. Spread this on top of the cream cheese layer.
Strawberry Layer: Lots of fresh strawberries on top of the pudding layer!
Whipped Topping Layer: Finally, spread the rest of the whipped topping onto the top of the strawberries. And then to make it look pretty, I often add a few more sliced strawberries on top, but that’s completely optional!
Now it is time to refrigerate for a few hours before cutting and serving. Make sure to store in the fridge before and immediately after serving. This dessert will keep fresh in the fridge for 3-4 days which means this dessert is perfect to make the day before your big celebration.

Strawberry Cheesecake Lush
Ingredients
- 1 pkg Golden Oreos (36 cookies)
- 6 Tbsp butter melted
- 8 ounces cream cheese softened to room temperature
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 16 ounces Cool Whip thawed and divided
- 2 pkgs instant cheesecake pudding mix (3.4 oz each)
- 3 cups milk
- 3 ½ cups sliced strawberries
Instructions
- Crush all of the Oreos. I like to use a blender or food processor for this, but you can place the cookies in a large Ziplock bag and crush them with a meat mallet or rolling pin if you prefer.
- Combine the melted butter with the crushed Oreos and then press the mixture into the bottom of a 9X13 pan.
- With an electric mixer, beat together the powdered sugar and cream cheese until smooth. Stir in 1 cup of the Cool Whip and then spread over the cookie crust.
- Mix together the pudding mixes and milk until smooth. Stir in 1 cup of Cool Whip and then spread over the cream cheese layer.
- Sprinkle the sliced strawberries over the top and then spread the remaining Cool Whip on top. I also like to add a few extra strawberries on top just to make it look pretty, but that's totally optional. My philosophy is that you can't have too many strawberries!
- Refrigerate for at least 3-4 hours before serving and keep refrigerated until ready to serve. If you are making the dessert more than a day in advance, wait until just prior to serving to add the fresh strawberries and the top Cool Whip layer.

HOW LONG IS STRAWBERRY CHEESECAKE LUSH GOOD FOR?
Lush desserts are good for about 3-4 days in the fridge if you keep them well covered. I don’t recommend letting them last any longer than that because the ingredients begin to separate. For this particular lush, I like to make it in advance but wait to put the fresh strawberries on top until I get close to serving it. This way I can keep the strawberries fresher before adding to the dessert.

hi , where can I buy cheesecake pudding?
Thanks
Jessica says
We can find it at our local Walmart or Kroger grocery store!
Denise Menigoz says
Could you use whip cream instead of Cool whip?
Nellie says
Whipped cream should work just fine in this recipe because it is mixed with cream cheese and powdered sugar to keep the consistency stable.
Amy says
Can you freeze this??
Nellie says
I’ve never tried, but I generally haven’t had much success with freezing similar recipes that have cream cheese in them.
