How long will homemade apple blondies stay fresh?
Apple blondies will stay fresh for up to 4-5 days at room temperature. Store them in an airtight container to maintain moisture. For longer storage, refrigerate them for up to a week, but bring to room temperature before serving for best texture.
These blondies can be frozen up to 2 months as well. Freeze in an airtight container or ziplocked bag, defrost at room temperature before enjoying.
Do I need to use Maple Extract? Can’t I just use Maple Syrup?
We use a blend of maple syrup and maple extract in this recipe in order to balance the sweetness and moisture, with maple flavor. Pure maple syrup has a more subtle maple flavor. In order to be able to taste maple in these blondies, we put in maple extract. It’s important to keep the ratios set forth in the recipe so that the blondies have great flavor and they set properly.

Glazed Maple Apple Blondies Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 ⅓ cups brown sugar packed
- ½ cup butter melted and cooled
- ½ cup maple syrup
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ tsp maple extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ¾ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp. baking soda
- 3 cups apples chopped peeled (about 3 medium)
GLAZE
- ¼ cup butter
- ½ cup maple syrup
- ¼ cup brown sugar packed
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F. Line a 13×9 baking pan with parchment, letting ends extend up sides.
- In a large bowl, beat the brown sugar, melted butter, syrup, and both extracts until blended. Add the eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. In another bowl, whisk flour, salt and baking soda; gradually beat the dry ingredients into the brown sugar mixture. Stir in apples (the batter will be thick).
- Transfer the batter to the prepared pan. Bake until top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted in center comes out with moist crumbs, 25-30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium-low heat; stir in syrup and brown sugar. Bring to a boil over medium heat; cook and stir until slightly thickened, 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat; cool slightly.
- Pour 75% of the glaze over warm blondies. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars & top with remaining glaze just before serving. Enjoy!

What’s the best type of apple to use for apple blondie recipes?
Firm apples like Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Gala or Fuji work best. They hold their shape and provide a nice balance of sweetness and tartness. Avoid soft or mealy apples, as they can become mushy when baked.

Can I substitute any ingredients to make a dairy-free version?
Yes. Replace butter with coconut oil or a plant-based margarine in equal amounts. Use a dairy-free vanilla extract if available.
Also ensure the maple syrup used is pure and doesn’t contain added dairy components.
Is there a way to incorporate brown butter into my batter?
You sure can! Brown the butter over medium heat until it turns golden and smells nutty, then let it cool slightly. Use this browned butter in place of the melted butter called for in the recipe. This adds a richer, toasted flavor to the blondies without changing the texture.
