Quick & Easy Candy Corn Granola Bar recipe made in minutes. Perfect Halloween snack! Simple ingredients combined to make a tasty homemade granola bars.
My kids are always clamoring for Halloween treats this time of year, so I decided to add some fun to a basic granola bar recipe! The results were great- just sweet enough to satisfy the kids but packed with ingredients that qualifies it as a snack. It was a win-win!
Why make Homemade Granola Bars?
My kids enjoy store bought granola bars just fine, but making them at home allows you to customize them how you’d like! With this version, I made them festive for Halloween. You can add any mix-ins you’d like- raisins, sunflower seeds, chopped cashews- get creative! Plus, with just 10 minutes of active time, you can make nearly 2 boxes worth of granola bars, so it’s inexpensive and fun.
Ingredients for Homemade Granola Bars
Here’s what you’ll need to make these granola bars:
— Quick Oats: in a pinch you can use Old Fashioned Oats but smaller quick cook oats are a better idea for this recipe.
— Crispy rice cereal: use any brand you’d like!
— Salted butter: if you don’t have salted butter, be sure to add a dash of salt to the recipe
— Brown sugar
— Honey: you can also use agave, but honey binds the ingredients better, which is critical for this no-bake granola bar
— Vanilla extract: I personally think this is optional for this recipe and many times I don’t add it.
— Halloween candy/ candy corn/ sprinkles: have fun with it! Add what you’d like!
How to make No-Bake Granola Bars
Making Homemade granola bars is easy!
First, spray an 8×8 pan with non-stick spray and set aside.
Heat Liquid Ingredients
Combine butter, brown sugar and honey together in a medium sized bowl. Microwave on high for 1:30. Stir, then return back to the microwave for another 2 minutes.
Add Dry Ingredients
Pour in oats, cereal and vanilla. Stir several minutes, until very well combined.
Add in half the candy corns and 2 TBSP sprinkles. Stir.
Press into Pan
Transfer mixture to prepared pan. Press down with spatula or your hands as well as you can, so that mixture is condensed and even.
Spread remaining candy corns and sprinkles over the top of the bars. Press them down into the granola bars firmly.
Cool & Cut into Bars
Transfer to fridge to cool for about 1 hour.
Using a knife, lift one corner of the bars then place on a cutting board. Cut square in half, then cut each rectangle into 7 bars. Yields 14 bars total.
Enjoy! Store leftovers in an airtight container. I like to package each bar in a small snack bag so they’re ready to go!

Can you Freeze Granola Bars?
Yes, you can freeze homemade granola bars! I prefer to package them individually first. You can wrap them in parchment paper or store them in small snack baggies. Then put them all in an airtight container. Use within 3-4 months.
Can I use different candy?
Yes, of course! If you don’t like candy corns, you are welcome to substitute in just about any festive candy you’d like. I think mini M&M’s would be great, or even just mini chocolate chips!
Can I make granola bars on the stove?
If you’d prefer to not use a microwave, yes, you can make these on the stovetop. Simply add the butter, honey and brown sugar to a medium sized saucepan. Bring to a low boil and then cook for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and continue with the rest of the recipe.
