Easy Halloween Cookies Kids can make
What is a better way to get into the Halloween spirit than making spooky treats in the kitchen with your kids? Not much!
My kids absolutely love being in the kitchen and love being independent even more. 😉 Great news, these are little cookies they can make completely on their own!
Seriously, dreams are coming true over here.. treats taste even better when someone else makes them!
How to Melt Almond Bark
There are a few different methods to easily melt the White Almond Bark.
It can be melted in the microwave, this is definitely the easiest option. For best results, microwave for 30 second intervals stirring in between each time. Do this until the chocolate is nice and smooth.
The next way is to use a double boiler. This is done by boiling a small amount of water in a sauce pan. Place the chocolate in a large glass bowl. Set the bowl on top of the saucepan with the boiling water underneath it. Stir the chocolate until melted and smooth.
My personal favorite though, is an Instant Pot hack! Essentially, I turn my Instant Pot into a double boiler by placing a chocolate filled glass bowl above some boiling water. Once the chocolate is melted, I turn the Instant Pot onto ‘KEEP WARM’ and it will keep the chocolate at perfect, melty consistency for as long as you need it! Mind blown, I know!
How do you melt chocolate chips in the microwave?
If you’d prefer to use a bag of white chocolate chips to make these Ghost Halloween Cookies, you can! Melting chocolate in the microwave is easy if you go slowly. Always use a glass or ceramic bowl and chocolate that’s not old. To melt 2 cups of chocolate chips I’d begin with 1 minute 30 seconds in the microwave. After that, let chocolate sit for 2-3 minutes. Then, gently stir and see if chocolate begins to melt smooth. If there are still unmelted clumps, add 30 seconds in the microwave, then let it sit again. Often chocolate looks like it’s not melted when it really is, and you don’t know for sure until you gently stir it. If your chocolate melts but it’s too thick to work with, try adding 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil or shortening, then letting it melt and stirring it in.
Ingredients to make Ghost Halloween Cookies
To make these simple Ghost Halloween Cookies you’ll need just 3 ingredients:
- almond bark or white chocolate chips
- Milano Cookies
- mini chocolate chips
How to make Ghost Halloween Cookies
Dipping the Milano cookies into the white chocolate is fairly easy.
The white chocolate is obviously hot, which means it will also melt the chocolate inside the cookie if you are not careful!
Using a fork to flip the cookie, cover the cookie in the white chocolate and then set the chocolate covered cookie onto either a silicone baking mat or parchment paper.
While the white chocolate is still melted, place two mini chocolate chips into the chocolate for eyes and one mini chocolate chip below for the mouth.
Repeat with all of the Milano Cookies and then place them into the fridge to quickly set the almond bark.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3-4 days.
