Funfetti Scones are soft, buttery, rich in vanilla flavor, and packed with sprinkles! With a simple glaze on top, these scones are perfect for brunch or an afternoon treat.

If you’re looking for a cute brunch recipe for Easter that is festive but easy to make, then make these colorful Funfetti Scones with pastel sprinkles and glaze. Traditional Funfetti desserts are made with bright rainbow sprinkles, but you can change up the glaze and sprinkles to fit any holiday or special occasion.

Why you need to try this Funfetti Scone recipe:
- Scones are unique. I’m not sure why people don’t serve scones more often! They are just as easy to make as muffins or biscuits and just as delicious.
- Rich vanilla flavor. Funfetti recipes are usually packed with vanilla flavor, and these scones are no exception. Some of the vanilla flavor comes from vanilla bean paste and the rest comes from vanilla coffee creamer.
- Everyone loves sprinkles. There is something about sprinkles that makes any recipe more fun. I also love how you can use different colors of sprinkles to fit any holiday or occasion.

How long are scones good for?
You can store the scones in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. If you store them in the refrigerator, they will stay fresh for up to a week.
Can You Freeze Glazed Scones?
Glazed scones can be frozen, just make sure to wait until after the glaze has hardened and set for the best results, otherwise things get messy. Once your glaze has set, place the scones on a baking sheet and freeze until solid (about an hour). Then place the scones in an airtight container until you’re ready to thaw and eat. Thaw at room temperature for a few hours. For a warm treat, reheat in the oven for a few minutes, and then add the glaze.

Ingredients in Funfetti Scones
Flour: All-purpose flour works best, but you can use a gluten-free substitute if needed.
Baking powder: This acts as the leavening agent in the scones, so make sure that it isn’t old or expired.
Sugar: Just a little bit of sugar adds the right amount of sweetness to the scones.
Milk and coffee creamer: The liquid for the scone batter comes from milk and vanilla coffee creamer. Whole milk works best, but you can use 2% if needed. Make sure that the vanilla coffee creamer that you use is made with real cream.
Butter: I always use salted butter when making scones. You will be cutting the butter into the flour, so you’ll want to make sure that the butter is cold.
Vanilla bean paste: You can use vanilla extract if you don’t have vanilla bean paste, but the flavor won’t be quite the same and it won’t be as strong.
Sprinkles – Mix sprinkles into the dough before shaping the scones. Jimmies work best!
GLAZE INGREDIENTS:
Powdered sugar: The key ingredient for making the glaze smooth and sweet!
Vanilla coffee creamer: Add a little bit more or less to get the desired consistency. Again, use a creamer that is made with real cream for the best flavor!
Sprinkles and food coloring (optional): You can color the glaze if you’d like and adding extra sprinkles is a great idea as well!

How to make Funfetti Scones
The full instructions on how to make Funfetti Scones are found below in the recipe card, but here are a few tips to keep in mind.
- Preheat the oven and line the baking sheet with parchment paper. Parchment paper helps baked goods to cook more evenly and it also makes cleanup so much easier!
- Use cold butter. When making pastries, it is important to use cold butter. You can mix it into the flour with your hands or you can use a pastry cutter.
- Cut the dough with a pizza cutter. You can use a knife, but a pizza cutter works so well for cutting the dough easily, giving you perfect edges every time!

Why Do My Scones Crumble?
If your scones are crumblier than usual it could have to do with the butter and fats in this recipe. If you didn’t properly incorporate the butter into the flour, it could melt faster than desired and leave you with a drier scone.
What kind of sprinkles do you use in Funfetti scones?
Funfetti cake typically uses rainbow jimmies, which are long, thin, colorful sprinkles, as they mix best into the batter without bleeding too much color compared to other sprinkle types like nonpareils
