Fall White Chocolate Chex Mix
Fall White Chocolate Chex mix is a simple snack mix or dessert that everyone loves. It’s almost impossible just to stop at one handful, so watch out! Use any variety of Chex cereal and mix it together with pretzels, pumpkin candies, M&Ms, caramel bits and honey roasted peanuts. Melt some white chocolate and drizzle all over the mix, along with some fall-colored sprinkles. Once the white chocolate has set, this simple treat is all ready to eat.
When to eat Fall White Chocolate Chex Mix?
White Chocolate Chex Mix is one of my favorite recipes to take to a Halloween party. The white chocolate coating is easily melted in the microwave which means this recipe could not be any easier to make! Although I typically pull out this recipe around Halloween, it is also a great snack mix for the rest of the year too. Just use regular M&Ms and sprinkles instead of the fall-colored variety and leave the Mellowcreme pumpkins out! No matter what time of year it is, this delicious snack mix will disappear as quickly as the time it took to make it!
Ingredients in Fall White Chocolate Chex Mix
Chex cereal – You can use any variety of Chex cereal, but I think that the Honey Nut variety is the best in this recipe. It goes so well with the honey roasted peanuts!
Pretzels – You will need 1 1/2 cups of pretzels. The traditional shaped mini pretzel twists work best, but you can use mini pretzel sticks if you prefer.
Mellowcreme pumpkin candies – The pumpkin candies add a little more sweetness to the mix. You can use candy corn as a substitute.
M&Ms – You will need about a cup of M&Ms. If you are making this for fall, make sure to use the fall colored ones. You could use Reese’s pieces if you’d like – those are always the perfect colors for fall!
Caramel bits – The caramel bits are probably my favorite part of this mix and something that sets the recipe apart from many other Chex mix recipes. The recipe calls for 1/2 cup, but I usually add a few extras in there too.
Honey roasted peanuts – You can use regular roasted peanuts, but the honey roasted ones are definitely the best in this snack mix.
Nonpareils sprinkles – Any type of sprinkles will work and you can choose any colors or combinations of colors that you’d like.
White chocolate chips – You will need about a cup of white chocolate chips to melt and drizzle over the snack mix. You can use semi-sweet chocolate or dark chocolate or any other kind of chocolate. The higher the quality of chocolate, the better!
How to make Fall White Chocolate Chex Mix
Line a baking sheet or 9×13 inch baking dish with parchment paper and set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cereal, pretzels, pumpkin candies, M&Ms candies, caramel bits, and honey roasted peanuts.
Spread the mixture onto your prepared baking sheet or dish in an even layer.
In a separate, microwaveable bowl or glass measuring cup, melt the white chocolate chips in intervals of 10-20 seconds, stirring between intervals, until completely melted.
Drizzle the white chocolate over the snack mixture.
Sprinkle the nonpareils over the white chocolate.
Use a spoon to toss the mixture together, making sure that the melted white chocolate coats as much of the ingredients as possible on all sides.
Gently spread the mixture back into an even layer and allow to sit for an hour, or until the white chocolate coating is set and hardened.
Spoon the mixture into a serving bowl or into individual serving containers, then serve.

Tips and Tricks on making White Chocolate Chex Mix:
- You can use any Chex cereal flavor. I used the honey nut flavor, but there are several other varieties that would work just as well in this recipe.
- If you like, you can add a teaspoon of coconut oil or vegetable oil to the white chocolate to make it smoother and easier to work with.
- If you don’t like nonpareils, you can use jimmies or any other type of sprinkles you prefer.
- Mix things up! Play around with the flavors and ingredients in this snack mix. Consider adding or substituting any of these ingredients for what’s already listed: Cheerios cereal, Reese’s pieces (perfect Fall colors!), almonds, pistachios, toasted walnuts or pecans, pretzel sticks, marshmallows, candy corn, butterscotch chips, peanut butter chips, chocolate chips
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days for maximum freshness.
- This is a great party recipe! Double or triple the ingredients to serve a crowd in a big bowl or on a serving platter. Scoop into treat bags for individual snacks or serve in a muffin tin or in cupcake liners like in the photos.
WHAT TYPE OF CHOCOLATE WORKS BEST IN WHITE CHOCOLATE PARTY MIX?
I usually just use whatever brand of white chocolate chips I happen to have on hand, and the recipe tastes amazing and works out well every time! If you are a little bit pickier about your chocolate, you can definitely use a higher quality white chocolate for the candy coating on this Chex mix. I actually don’t usually like white chocolate very much, but absolutely love it in this recipe – something about the combination of all the different flavors makes it so savory!
HOW LONG CAN YOU STORE CHEX MIX?
This chex mix recipe will stay fresh for about 3-4 days in an airtight container. Any longer than that, and the cereal will start to taste a bit stale, so make sure to package some up and start handing it out to the neighbors – this batch is pretty large!
CAN I FREEZE THIS CHEX MIX RECIPE?
Although this treat is meant to be enjoyed immediately upon making it you can freeze this treat for up to four weeks. Ensure it is in an air tight container to reduce the amount of condensation when it thaws. You can even spread on a baking sheet and heat for a few minutes to bring the mixture back to life after freezing, let cool before eating. The treat will be good for about 3-4 days after thawing.
