Recipe Highlights
- Easy, One-Bowl Batter: No boxed mix here! Everything comes together with simple ingredients you probably already have.
- Ultra-Fudgy Texture: Thanks to a mix of melted butter, oil, cocoa powder, and cornstarch, these brownies are gooey, dense, and perfectly chewy.
- Packed with Mix-Ins: Each bite bursts with peanuts, peanut butter chips, and chunks of Snickers, Payday, and Twix.
- Customizable & Fun: Use whatever candy bars you’ve got lying around — it’s the most delicious way to clean out that post-holiday stash.

Ingredients in Candy Bar Brownies
- Butter – For best results, use real butter. You will need ¾ cup butter (1 1/2 sticks) to melt with the sugar.
- Sugar – Yes, that’s a lot of sugar, but these are brownies. You can reduce it a little bit if you want them a little less sweet, but I don’t recommend it!
- Eggs – You will need 4 large eggs, plus 2 egg yolks to help bind everything together.
- Vanilla extract – The higher the quality, the better.
- Oil – You can use any type of oil you’d like. Most brownies call for vegetable or canola oil, but I generally prefer to use coconut oil in baked goods. Just make sure the coconut oil is melted before adding to the other ingredients.
- Cocoa powder – Unsweetened cocoa powder provides the rich, chocolate flavor to the brownies.
- Flour – Use all-purpose flour or a gluten-free substitute if needed.
- Baking soda – Just a little bit of baking soda acts as the leavening agent in the brownies. For best results, make sure your baking soda isn’t old or expired.
- Cornstarch – A little bit of cornstarch helps to create the chewy, fudgy texture that makes the perfect brownie.
- Salt – A little bit of salt will help to intensify all of the other flavors.
- Chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, roasted peanuts, chopped Snickers, chopped Payday bars, and chopped Twix candy bars – All of these ingredients will be added to the batter and sprinkled on top as well. These are what put these brownies on an entirely different level. You can add different candy bars if you’d like. You can use up all of those leftover candy bars from Halloween!

Tips & Tricks for the Best Brownies
Full instructions for the recipe can be found on the recipe card below, but here are a few helpful tips.
- Don’t overmix! Once you add the dry ingredients, stir just until combined. Overmixing creates tough, dry brownies instead of soft and fudgy ones.
- Cool before cutting. Warm brownies fall apart when sliced — let them cool for at least 30 minutes for cleaner edges.
- Line your pan. Use parchment paper with a little overhang so you can lift the brownies out easily for slicing.
- Chop candy evenly. Cut the candy bars into small, bite-sized chunks so they melt evenly and don’t sink to the bottom.
- Mix up your candy combo. Milky Way, Reese’s, Kit Kat, Butterfinger — any mix of chocolate and caramel candy bars works beautifully here.
- Slightly underbake for fudge lovers. Pull them out when the center still looks a little soft — they’ll finish setting as they cool.

Storage Tips
- Room Temperature: Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
- Freezer: Wrap individually and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature or microwave for 10–15 seconds for a fresh-baked feel.

FAQs
Can I use boxed brownie mix instead of homemade batter?
Yes! If you’re short on time, use a family-size boxed brownie mix and fold in the same candy mix-ins. Bake according to the box directions, just keep an eye on it since candy can melt faster.
What’s the best way to tell when brownies are done?
Insert a toothpick into the center — if it comes out with a few moist crumbs, they’re perfect. If it’s completely wet, bake for a few more minutes.
Can I make these without peanuts?
Absolutely. Skip the peanuts and use more chocolate chips or chopped pretzels for crunch.
Do I need to refrigerate Candy Bar Brownies?
Nope — they’re best stored at room temperature for up to 3 days. Refrigerating makes them a little too firm, unless you like that extra chewy texture.
Can I freeze Candy Bar Brownies?
Yes! Once cooled, wrap them individually and store in an airtight container for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature or warm briefly in the microwave before serving.
