Apple & Peach Cobbler recipe made with cinnamon & nutmeg spiced fruit baked under a layer of buttery brown sugar topping! Incredible cobbler with great fruit flavor.

Our family loves cobbler and I love experimenting with new versions each year. Using 2 fruits in this cobbler was incredible! I love how the peaches and apples compliment each other. The peaches are softer and the apples are more robust, giving the textures more depth. Try it!
Ingredients for Apple & Peach Cobbler
Sugar: You need ½ cup of granulated sugar for a subtle, sweet taste.
Flour: Help adhere the spices to the fruit by adding flour to the mixture.
Spices: Give this cobbler great flavor with 1 tsp of cinnamon and ¼ tsp of nutmeg.
Fruit: For the base of this dessert you’ll need 6 cups total peeled & sliced fresh peaches and apples. I used Pink Lady apples and Red Globe peaches for my cobbler. More fruit variety suggestions can be seen below.
Cobbler Topping

Flour: For a crispy topping you’ll need 1 ¼ cup of all-purpose flour.
Baking powder: Adding baking powder to the mixture helps create a light, fluffy topping.
Salt: Enhance the flavors by adding salt.
Butter: Cut in ½ cup of cold butter for a rich taste.
Egg: Use one egg for great topping texture.

Saving & Storing Apple peach cobbler
Your peach cobbler will stay fresh in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days. Cover it well with plastic wrap or store it in an airtight container to keep moisture and odors out.
If you want to keep it longer, you can freeze peach cobbler. Wrap it tightly in aluminum foil or place it in a freezer-safe container. It will keep for up to 3 months in the freezer. Thaw it in the refrigerator overnight. and reheat it in the oven at 350°F for 15-20 minutes to restore the crisp topping.
Avoid freezing the cobbler with the topping added if you want a crisper finish. Instead, freeze the peach filling and prepare the topping fresh before baking for best texture.

Can I use canned apples & peaches for this recipe?
Yes, you can use canned peaches & apples if fresh ones are not available. Drain them both well to avoid excess liquid, and reduce the added sugar since canned fruits are often sweetened. Just be aware using canned fruit will change the flavor results slightly.

What are the best types of apples to use for cobbler?
You can use any apple desired but some great ones to try and use include Gala apples, Granny Smith, Pink Lady, and Honeycrisp. Sticking with baking apples means that you’re choosing the harder apples over the soft ones and that the apple texture will turn out nicely. A softer apple (like a red delicious) would turn out soft, mushy, and grainy by the time the dessert has finished baking and will not be as pleasant.
Tips for Choosing and Preparing Fresh Peaches
Select ripe peaches that give slightly when pressed but aren’t mushy. Look for fruits with vibrant color and a sweet, fragrant aroma. Avoid any bruised or green-tinted peaches.
Before slicing, peel the skins by blanching peaches in hot water for 30 seconds, then transferring them to ice water. The skins will slip off easily. Slice peaches evenly for consistent cooking.
