Spiced pumpkin mousse recipe
It’s a creamy pumpkin-flavored treat that’s got the texture of a fluffy and pillowy whipped cream to make every bite melt in your mouth. Flavored with warm spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves, this dish is an Autumn favorite and it’s not hard to see why.
Pumpkin Mousse Ingredients
-Heavy cream: You will need 2 ⅔ cups of heavy cream (heavy or whipping cream) for the base of this recipe.
-Sugars: You will need ½ cup of brown sugar and ½ cup of granulated sugar to sweeten this treat, but you can use all brown sugar or granulated sugar if desired. Note that all brown sugar will add a depth of flavor thanks to the molasses pairing well with pumpkin.
-Vanilla: Use a teaspoon of vanilla extract to help flavor this dish wonderfully.
-Pumpkin: To give us the pumpkin flavor we will use a 15 ounce can of pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling).
-Spices: Use 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, ½ teaspoon of ginger, and ¼ teaspoon each of cloves and nutmeg. You could also omit these spices and simply use 1 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon instead.
How to make pumpkin mousse

Continue to whip for 6-8 minutes or until stiff peaks form.

How to store pumpkin mousse:
Keep your pumpkin mousse stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. This dish is best served as soon as possible after making it so don’t wait too long to take a bite!
Why did my pumpkin mousse separate?
You most likely over whipped the whipped cream. This causes it to practically turn into butter and separate. When this happens, there is no saving the dessert and you will have to start over.
What if my whipped cream separates as I’m adding the pumpkin puree?
This is another issue you could face but it’s one with a simple solution! Simply stop folding everything together and place your bowl of whipped pumpkin mixture into the fridge for about 15 minutes to chill. This time should help to thicken the runny liquids enough that you can continue folding them together without any more issues.
