It’s a moist and flavorful quick bread recipe that is loaded with semi-sweet chocolate chunks and cream cheese so that every bite is a combination of flavors and textures that feel both rich and indulgent. It is the ultimate Autumn quick bread for any pumpkin lover out there.
Cream Cheese Pumpkin Bread Ingredients
For the Pumpkin Bread, You Will Need:
-Flour: For the base of this bread recipe you will need 1 ¾ cups of all-purpose flour.
-Eggs: You will need 2 eggs to help bind the pumpkin bread together and give it a good consistency.
-Pumpkin puree: Adding in 7 ounces of canned pumpkin puree will really help to give us a great pumpkin flavor and orange color.
-Oil: You will need ¼ cup of vegetable oil for adding fats into the bread to keep it moist.
-Yogurt: Adding in ¼ cup of plain yogurt will make our bread have a lighter texture and make it very moist.
-Milk: We need 1/4 cup of milk to help get our batter to the perfect consistency.
-Sugar: 1 cup of light brown sugar will sweeten the bread and give it a depth of flavor thanks to the molasses.
-Leavening agents: You will need ½ teaspoon each of baking powder and baking soda.
-Spices: You will need 1 ½ teaspoon of ground cinnamon, and ¼ teaspoon each of ginger powder, ground nutmeg, and ground cloves so that your bread is perfectly spiced. Alternately, you can add 2 tsp pumpkin pie spice!
-Salt: Adding in ½ teaspoon of salt will help to enhance the flavors in this dish.
-Vanilla: Use 1 teaspoon of vanilla to help make the flavors in this bread recipe stand out.
-Chocolate chips: We want to add a nice contrasting flavor so use ½ cup plus 2 tablespoons of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
For the Cream Cheese Filling, You Will Need:
-Cream cheese: You will need 8 ounces of softened cream cheese (this is the amount ina standard sized brick from the store).
-Sugar: Adding in 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar will help to slightly sweeten the filling.
-Egg yolk: Use one egg yolk to make the filling richer in taste and hold together better through the baking process.
-Vanilla: To give the filling a little flavor enhancement use ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract.
How to Make Pumpkin Cream Cheese Bread
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line a 9×5 bread pan with parchment paper and grease it with nonstick cooking spray. This will make it easier to get your loaf out later.
Whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and spices in a medium-sized bowl. Make sure to break up the spice chunks well so that they are evenly distributed.
In a large mixing bowl combine the pumpkin puree, eggs, vegetable oil, yogurt, milk, vanilla, and sugar.
Add the flour mixture to the wet mixture and stir until just combined. Then stir in ½ cup of chocolate chips.
Prepare the cheesecake filling by beating the cream cheese with granulated sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth.
Pour about 4-5 tablespoons of pumpkin batter into the loaf pan so that it covers the bottom and then spoon about 3 tablespoons of the cream cheese filling over the top and spread it out. Continue alternating this until the pan is ¾ of the way full. Place the remaining chocolate chips on top of the bread batter and then bake.
Bake in the oven for 60-80 minutes or until a toothpick can be inserted into the center and come out clean. If during baking the top beings to turn too brown, you can loosely cover it with foil.
Remove the loaf from the oven and allow it to cool for 15 minutes in the pan. Then transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely before slicing and serving.

- 8 oz cream cheese softened
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Line a 9×5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper, then grease the parchment paper with cooking spray.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and spices.
- In a large bowl, combine pumpkin puree, eggs, vegetable oil, yogurt, milk, vanilla, and sugar.
- Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined. Stir in 1/2 cup of chocolate chips.
- For the cheesecake filling, beat the cream cheese with sugar, yolk, and vanilla until smooth.
