What is a pink doughnut bundt cake?
It’s an easy-to-make round cake with a hole in the middle that at first glance looks very much like a donut. Unlike real donuts, however, this one is a baked cake batter and not something fried in hot oils. The good news about that is that it’s much easier to make at home without making a huge mess. Of course, it’s still not complete until you add that pink glaze and sprinkles on top because that’s what truly makes it look like an iconic round donut. Yum!
Donut bundt cake ingredients
-Butter: You will need 1 cup of softened unsalted butter (two sticks) to make sure your cake has a good amount of fats needed to stay moist.
-Sugar: Adding 1 ½ cups of granulated sugar into the batter will make your cake perfectly sweet.
-Eggs: Use 4 large eggs to help bind the cake together and to get a great texture as the cake bakes.
-Vanilla: Adding 1 ½ teaspoons of vanilla will enhance the flavors in the cake.
-Flour: The base of the batter will be 3 ½ cups of all-purpose flour.
-Leavening agents: You will need 2 teaspoons of baking powder and ½ teaspoon of baking soda to help the cake puff up nicely as it bakes.
-Salt: Adding ¾ teaspoons of salt will help to naturally enhance the flavors in this cake making it taste even better.
-Buttermilk: For a little more richness and moisture use 1 cup of buttermilk. You can DIY your own with 1 cup of milk and 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar. Mix together and let rest 5 minutes before using.
Pink donut glaze:
-Powdered sugar: Use 2 cups of powdered sugar for the base of the glaze so that it’s perfectly sweet and smooth in texture.
Vanilla: Adding 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract or even strawberry extract will help to give our glaze a wonderful flavor.
Pink food coloring: Add in 2 drops of hot pink food coloring until the mixture is the color desired.
Sprinkles: Adding in some colorful Jimmie sprinkles will help to make the cake look like a real donut and give it a nice festive flare.
How to make a pink donut bundt cake
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and grease your bundt pan. Set aside.
Cream together the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
Add in the eggs, one at a time, until they’re fully mixed in.
Add in the vanilla and mix again.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Alternate adding the flour mixture and the buttermilk into the butter mixture, until everything is well combined. Scrape the sides of the bowl as you go to make sure that everything is well blended.
Pour your cake batter into the bundt pan and spread it out evenly.
Bake in the oven for 45-55 minutes or until a toothpick can be inserted and come out clean.
Let the cake cool in the pan for 15 minutes and then flip onto a cooling rack, removing the pan. Allow the cake to cool completely.
Make the glaze by mixing together the powdered sugar, vanilla, and food coloring. Whisk until smooth.
Drizzle the icing over the top of the cake.
Sprinkle the icing with your Jimmie sprinkles.
Slice and serve. Enjoy!

What causes a bundt cake to fall
This can be caused by any number of reasons. Most baked goods will fall back just a bit as they cool from the oven but some fall unintentionally. This could be caused by elevation, too much moisture in the recipe, or too much leavening too. You should also make sure to always use the middle oven rack for even heating unless told otherwise in the recipe cards.
When to flip bundt cake
Flip your bundt cake after it has been cooled for several minutes in the pan (usually 10-15minutes). To help flip the cake out of the pan in one piece, take a rubber scraper spatula along the sides of the cake between the cake and the pan, going all the way around the pan to help loosen it. Then flip the cake with two hands onto a plate or cooling rack as directed.
