Our local grocery store had entire flats of strawberries on sale for only $5 and of course I had to get some! Then I had to come up with something to do with all of these strawberries and I decided that this dessert would be perfect. I think I keep thinking that if I make summer type recipes, we will actually start having warmer temperatures and nicer weather. So far, it’s not really working, but at least we are enjoying all of the yummy treats! This dessert pizza is absolutely delicious but it is pretty sweet, so a small slice is all you need!
What kind of fruit do you put on fruit pizza?
This fruit pizza recipe just has strawberries with a strawberry glaze, but you can use any type of fruit that you want on fruit pizza. You can also skip the glaze or change the flavor to any Jello flavor you prefer! Fruit pizza is delicious with raspberries and raspberry glaze, but you can get creative and mix and match flavors as well. I love kiwi, pineapple, blueberries, grapes and blackberries on fruit pizza – there are no rules!
Ingredients to make glazed Strawberry Fruit Pizza
You only need a few ingredients to make strawberry fruit pizza.
-1 (16 oz) package of refrigerated sugar cookie dough (you need this for the crust. I used pre-made cookie dough to save time, but you can definitely make the dough from scratch if you prefer! My favorite sugar cookie recipe is found here.  Another option is to make sugar cookie dough from a mix. If you do make the cookie dough from scratch, your recipe may make more dough than you need for one pizza. You can either make two pizzas if you have enough dough or you could make the crust a little bit thicker, but make sure to increase the cooking time to make sure that the crust bakes all the way through.
-1 package cream cheese, softened to room temperature
-1 cup sour cream (you could also use plain yogurt instead)
-1 tsp vanilla extract
-1 cup powdered sugar
-2-3 cups fresh strawberries, halved
How to make glazed Strawberry Fruit Pizza
The first step in making fruit pizza is to make the crust. Spread the cookie dough out evenly on a well-greased 14″ pizza pan. If you don’t have a pizza pan, you can use a cookie sheet. Bake the crust at 350° for about 13-15 minutes or until the crust is just barely turning a light golden brown. Let cool completely before adding the cream cheese layer on top.
Once the crust is cooled, use an electric mixer to beat the cream cheese, sour cream, vanilla and powdered sugar together until smooth. Spread on top of the cooled crust.
Arrange the fresh strawberries on top of the cream cheese layer (you can get creative and fancy with this or you can just pile them all on there!) and then top with the glaze. Refrigerate until ready to serve. (You may want to make the glaze first so that it can be cooling while you make the crust.)

How to make the fruit pizza glaze

Can you make fruit pizza in advance?
Fruit pizza can be made the day before you are planning to serve it. If you try to store it much longer than that while fully assembled, it starts to get a little bit soggy.
To ensure that the pizza is as fresh as possible when serving it, you could make the different layers a couple of days in advance and then store them separately. The crust will stay good for about 2-3 days as long as you cover it well and the cream cheese mixture can be stored in the fridge for several days as well. You can also make the glaze several days in advance and keep it in the fridge, separate from the strawberries. Go ahead and assemble all of it just a couple of hours before serving and keep it in the refrigerator so that it can chill before serving.
Can you freeze fruit pizza?
The fully assembled Glazed Strawberry Fruit Pizza doesn’t freeze very well, but you can make the cookie crust in advance and freeze that for several weeks prior to assembly. The other layers can be made several days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
Can you make fruit pizza without cream cheese?
You can make fruit pizza without cream cheese if you prefer to use something else for the middle layer. For many years, I just used Cool Whip as the creamy layer and piled fruit on top of that. You could use vanilla yogurt or even Greek yogurt would be wonderful for the middle layer.
Is fruit pizza healthy?
Fruit pizza is definitely more of a dessert than a health food, but there are ways to make it pretty healthy! The crust is pretty thin and then if you use vanilla Greek yogurt as your creamy layer, you are adding quite a bit of protein to the recipe. Pile on a ton of fresh fruit and skip the glaze and fruit pizza becomes a pretty healthy dessert option!

This looks so delicious. I was wondering if I could use frozen strawberries and if I can make individual pies using cupcake pans.? Thank you
Nellie says
I think individual pies sound like a great idea! I’ve never tried frozen strawberries – they might work, but you have to be careful with frozen fruit because there is generally more liquid than with fresh fruit.
