Easy Cherry Party Punch is a fun & festive party drink that everyone goes crazy over! Simple to make & has a fantastic sweet cherry flavor.
This recipe for Cherry Party Punch is a variation of a recipe I found in our family cookbook. It has amazing flavor and just the right amount of fizz to make it interesting. The slush can be made weeks ahead of time and kept frozen until you’re ready to use it. The recipe makes 2 quart size bags of slush, each which combines with a 2-liter of soda for the cherry party punch.
What you’ll need to make Cherry Party Punch
–ice water + ice cubes
–jar maraschino cherries, with juice
–vanilla extract
–almond extract
–2 bottles of Cherry 7-Up soda
–whipped cream & additional cherries, for topping
–2 quart sized freezer bags
How to make Cherry Party Punch
First, gather all your ingredients. Depending on when you’re serving your punch, you’ll want to make sure the soda is chilled. You’ll also need a blender to make the simple cherry syrup that is frozen into slush form, then mixed with soda to form the punch.
Use a 4 cup measuring cup filled with cold water and ice water that equals 3 cups total. Pour into a blender. Add sugar, cherries with juice and extracts. Blend 2-3 minutes, until mixture is smooth.
I use maraschino cherries without stems for this step as it makes it so much easier to just dump the contents in the blender!
Transfer mixture to the quart sized bags, adding 2.5 cups of syrup per bag. Freeze at least 4-6 hours. The mixture never fully freezer being as it has a high sugar content. It forms a slushy mixture though, which is what you want.
When ready to serve, remove bags of slush from the freezer and massage to break up any clumps. Pour into a punch bowl. Add soda to bowl. Gently stir to break apart clumps. Serve, topped with whipped cream and a cherry.
If you’d rather not make a giant bowl of punch, you can just use 1 bag of slush mixed with 1 2-liter of Cherry 7-Up for a smaller crowd.
How to serve party punch
You can serve party punch in a large bowl or a punch bowl. I place an ice bucket beside the punch bowl as well, if guests would like ice cubes in their punch. Another idea is to freeze cherry 7-up in a bundt pan with more maraschino cherries. Be sure that the 7-up ice ring will fit in your punch bowl! When you’re ready to serve, make the punch, then quickly dip the bottom of the bundt pan in very hot water. Overturn it and tap on the pan until that the soda ice-ring pops out. Float the ice ring in the punch bowl to keep it cold.
Place a ladle in the punch bowl and small cups beside the bowl for guests to help themselves. Don’t forget the straws, whipped cream and additional cherries, for garnish!
