APPLE PIE MILKSHAKES
Peel and dice two apples, cooking them with butter, sugar, cinnamon, heavy cream, and vanilla. Once the apples are soft and the mixture has cooled, add milk and vanilla ice cream and blend until smooth. Top with graham cracker crumbs, caramel sauce, sliced apples, and whipped cream to make a milkshake that is restaurant-worthy!
Ingredients in Apple Pie Milkshakes
Apples: Peel, core, and chop two apples into small pieces. Honeycrisp, Granny Smith, or Fuji apples work best, but any variety of crisp, tart apple will work perfectly.
Butter: You will need two tablespoons of butter to cook with the apples.
Brown sugar: Just two tablespoons of brown sugar will add sweetness and a rich caramel flavor to the apples. For best results, make sure the brown sugar is soft and fresh.
Cinnamon: A half teaspoon of ground cinnamon pairs perfectly with the apples and brown sugar.
Salt: A pinch of salt will help all of the other flavors to pop.
Heavy cream: Just a little bit of heavy cream makes the caramel sauce absolutely delicious. You can swap this out with half and half if you’d like.
Vanilla extract: The higher the quality of the vanilla, the better.
Vanilla ice cream: You will need about 6 scoops (1 pint) of vanilla ice cream to mix with the caramel apple sauce.
Milk: Two cups of cold milk will thin out the milkshakes to the perfect thickness. You can use any type of milk you’d like.
Optional toppings: The milkshakes are delicious but adding toppings is always a good idea. Graham cracker crumbs, whipped cream, caramel sauce, and apple slices all go well on top of these decadent milkshakes!

Tips and Tricks for making Apple Pie Milkshakes
- Do not burn the caramel sauce! Be sure to watch & stir the entire time as it cooks. Otherwise, you may end up with bitter, gritty caramel.
- If needed, you can use half & half instead of heavy cream for the apples.
- If your caramel sauce is too thick, you can thin it out with more cream. Whisk or stir it in a teaspoon at a time until you’ve achieved your desired texture.
- Instead of adding the caramel apples to the blender along with the ice cream and milk, you can alternatively add them after blending the other ingredients if you want your milkshake to have more texture. Simply add the caramel apple sauce to the blender and pulse until the milkshake reaches your preferred texture.
- To make your presentation more fancy, consider lining your milkshake glasses with a layer of graham cracker crumbs. Next, pour your milkshake into the prepared glass, then top with whipped cream. Then, generously drizzle caramel sauce over the whipped cream, sprinkle more graham cracker crumbs on top, and garnish with freshly sliced apple and a fun paper straw.
