Raspberry Vanilla Jello Salad is made with just 4 ingredients: vanilla yogurt, pudding mix, whipped topping, and raspberries. It’s a creamy, refreshing treat that’s perfect for potlucks, holidays, or a simple sweet side dish!

What is the best fruit to put in Jello Fruit Salad?
My family loves raspberries best in this recipe, but I’ve also made it with mixed berries, blackberries, blueberries, and even peaches (which inspired this version of the salad). I usually use frozen fruit since I keep it on hand, but fresh works just as well.
You can also mix a few fruits together—raspberries and peaches are especially delicious—and I’ve even added bananas right before serving for extra flavor.

Recipe Highlights
- Just 4 Simple Ingredients – Made with vanilla yogurt, pudding mix, whipped topping, and raspberries, this recipe comes together fast with minimal effort.
- Sweet, Creamy & Refreshing – The mix of tart raspberries with smooth vanilla cream makes every bite light, fluffy, and perfectly balanced.
- Easy to Customize – Works with frozen or fresh fruit and can be switched up with berries, peaches, or bananas depending on what you have on hand.

Ingredients in Raspberry Jello Fruit Salad
Instant vanilla pudding mix – Thickens the salad and adds a smooth vanilla flavor that ties everything together.
Vanilla yogurt – Adds creaminess and a slight tang that balances the sweetness.
Cool Whip (whipped topping) – Makes the texture light, fluffy, and airy.
Frozen raspberries – Bring a sweet-tart burst of fruit flavor and juicy texture in every bite.

How long is this Raspberry Jello Fluff good for?
This Raspberry Vanilla Jello Salad is best enjoyed within 2–3 days when stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator. After that, the texture can start to loosen as the fruit releases moisture and the whipped topping breaks down slightly.
Freezing isn’t recommended, since thawing causes the mixture to become watery and lose its fluffy, creamy texture.

Easy Raspberry Jello Salad Recipe
Ingredients
- 5.1 oz box instant vanilla pudding
- 32 oz container vanilla yogurt
- 8 oz container Cool Whip thawed
- 12 oz package frozen raspberries
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the pudding mix and the vanilla yogurt, stirring until well mixed.
- Fold Cool Whip into the mixture. (You can use a spatula or a whisk!)
- Lastly, fold in the raspberries. I had set mine out for about 10 minutes before making the salad, but you can put them in frozen and they will thaw very quickly so you can serve the salad right after mixing. If you don’t serve the salad immediately, the raspberries will thaw more and the juices will add a raspberry flavor to the entire mixture – I like it both ways!

Can you replace the cool whip in fruit Jello salad?
If you can’t find Cool Whip where you live or you prefer not to use it in recipes, you can use stabilized whipped cream instead. If you just use regular whipped cream, the consistency will be too light and the cream will not hold up very well when mixed into the jello salad. It’s very simple to make your own stabilized whipped cream and it just takes a few minutes!
How do you make stabilized whipped cream?
To make stabilized whipped cream, you will need the following ingredients:
- 4 ounces of cream cheese (softened to room temperature)
- 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream.
- Beat the cream cheese with the powdered sugar and vanilla until soft and smooth.
- In a separate bowl, beat the whipping cream just until soft peaks form.
- Add the cream cheese mixture to the whipped cream and beat until stiff peaks are formed. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.
A little tip for making whipped cream faster. Use a metal bowl for whipping the cream and place the bowl in the freezer for about 30 minutes before you make the whipped cream. This will significantly decrease the amount of time that you will need to beat the whipped cream – the process will go much faster!

Can I use fresh fruit instead of frozen?
Yes, fresh fruit works just as well, though frozen raspberries are often used for convenience and consistent texture.
Can I make this ahead of time?
Absolutely—this salad actually tastes better after chilling for a few hours so the flavors can blend together.
Can I use a different flavor of pudding mix?
Yes, vanilla is classic, but white chocolate or cheesecake pudding can also work for a slightly different flavor twist.

Why is my salad runny?
This usually happens if the fruit is very juicy or the mixture hasn’t chilled long enough to set up properly.

Is there anything I can substitute for yogurt?
Nellie says
I can’t think of anything that would work as a substitute for yogurt in this recipe!
Janene Gerving says
This stuff is awesome! Went to my sons home and brought this for Christmas and everyone raves about it! Made it again this week and used Greek yogurt and it’s thicker. Absolutely love this stuff. Will make it again with blueberries!
Thank you for sharing this-very simple😍
Marcia Clark says
Delicious. Made with frozen raspberries.
Alison says
That’s how we do it too which makes it so easy to put together!
Shari says
If you use frozen raspberries and make evening before, do you mix it again in morning after raspberries thaw?
Nellie says
Yep, you can just give it a quick stir in the morning and it’ll be fantastic!
Annemarie Dolci says
I was thinking about making this as a dessert, and perhaps layering in some vanilla wafer cookies. Made the night before and refrigerated overnight. Thoughts?
Alison says
This salad works great for making it the night before and leaving it in the fridge overnight, but if you are going to add Vanilla Wafers I would toss those in and mix them just before you serve it so they don’t get soggy!
Susan says
This looks and sounds amazing. Is it thick enough to put it on a graham cracker crust and cut into squares?
Nellie says
No, the mixture won’t really set up in order to be able to slice it. You could definitely dip graham crackers in it though- that would be delicious! Especially if you swapped the vanilla pudding out with cheesecake pudding. 😉
Lauren says
Do you think this would be good as a layer ON TOP of actual jello? Like raspberry jello?
Nellie says
Not sure why I’ve never thought of that, but yes, I think it would be good! We often put plain Cool Whip on the top of Jello, but this has way more flavor for sure!
Carroll J says
Can I make it with sugar free ingredients?
Alison says
For sure!
Ljohnson says
Very easy and delicious! My new favorite.
Nellie says
It’s definitely one of our favorites too…I can’t even guess how many times I’ve made this recipe!
Barb Hauer says
Added small box of raspberry jello as I wanted more raspberry flavor.
Nicole says
Sounds lovely! 🙂
Linda says
Where is the jello in this jello salad?
Nicole says
Sorry for the confusion but Jello is a brand name that makes both the flavored gelatin that you’re thinking of as well as pudding. In this recipe, we use Jello Pudding, not gelatin.
Meghan says
I accidentally bought Cook and Serve pudding. Can I use it or should I exchange it for the instant?
Nicole says
unfortunately, cook and serve pudding will not work out well with this recipe. you need instant
Clara Lorino says
I haven’t made it yet but plan to this weekend taking it as a side dish! Sounds easy Peezy and delicious looking forward to trying it! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe! 👍👌
Nicole says
Sounds like you’ll have a delicious weekend
Julia says
Can I freeze half of it for a frozen treat? I made the recipe. It is delicious. I used lower and lite options. I thinking it may also be good for a frozen treat. Have you tried freezing?
Nicole says
I have not tried to freeze it so i don’t know how it would turn out, sorry. My guess is that as it thaws it might separate and become watery though
Doris says
Have made this several times now – husband really loves it. Since he is trying to stay away from sugar, I use sugar free pudding and low sugar yogurt. So easy to make.
Chris Weber says
What size and how many boxes of sugar free pudding? Also trying to cut down on sugar-thank you!
Nellie says
I’ve never used sugar free pudding, but I’m guessing it’ll work just fine! The recipe calls for a large box of regular vanilla pudding which is a 6 serving size box. I’m guessing you would need the equivalent of 6 servings of sugar free pudding mix. Good luck!
Mashelle McDonald says
Where I live you cannot get cool whip. Could I make this with the cans of whipping cream?
Jessica says
YES! I explain how to make stabilized whipped cream here: https://butterwithasideofbread.com/how-to-make-whipped-cream/
Karen says
First got this recipe about 15 years ago using tinned mandarin oranges and it was
awesome. Going to try the raspberries next time. My husband diabetic so I always
use low sugar on all the other ingredients and comes out great.
Jessica says
Love this recipe with oranges!! Thanks Karen!
Carla says
I make this same recipe only I use fresh strawberries. So good!
Nellie says
Strawberries sound like a great idea Carla!
Rose Theobald says
I was wondering if it would work using frozen strawberries as they release so much juice as they thaw. Any ideas?
Jessica says
I’m not sure frozen strawberries would work- they have a more rubbery texture too, in addition to weeping a ton.
Debbie says
For someone dieting, what would the portion be for 1 serving?
Melinda Bell says
I know this may sound crazy, but do I make the pudding and then combine the ingredients? Or just add the pudding mix to the other ingredients?
Thank you inadvertent .
Nellie says
Just add the pudding mix to the other ingredients! Hope you enjoy the recipe!
