Coca Cola Burgers made with ground beef, Ritz crackers, an egg, French dressing, cheese & classic Coca Cola soda for a tender, flavorful cheeseburger!

These Coca Cola Hamburgers aren’t just a fun twist—they’re unbelievably juicy, slightly sweet, and packed with flavor you won’t get from a typical backyard burger. The combo of soda, Ritz crackers, and French dressing creates a tender, melt-in-your-mouth texture that sets them completely apart. If you love a good burger, you’ve got to try it!
Ingredients for Coca Cola Burgers
1 egg – Acts as a binder to hold the patties together while adding a bit of richness.
½ cup Coca Cola + 6 TBSP French dressing (divided) – This sweet and tangy duo flavors the meat from the inside and creates a caramelized, juicy glaze when brushed on during grilling.
½ cup crushed Ritz crackers – Serve as a flavorful binder that keeps the burgers tender and locks in moisture.
2 TBSP grated Jack cheese – Adds a subtle creaminess and boosts the overall savory flavor of the patties.
¼ tsp salt – Enhances all the flavors and brings out the richness of the beef.
1 ½ lbs ground beef – The hearty base of the recipe, providing classic burger flavor and juiciness.
6 hamburger buns – The perfect vessel to hold all that juicy, flavorful goodness together.

Tips & Tricks for making the perfect Hamburger Patties
- Don’t overmix the meat mixture – With crackers and soda in the mix, overworking the beef can make the patties dense instead of tender, so mix just until combined.
- Let the mixture rest before shaping – Give it 5–10 minutes so the crackers can fully absorb the liquid, which helps the patties hold together better on the grill. Chilling while resting is a bonus- it will help the patties stay together easier on the grill!
- Brush, don’t drench, the glaze – Lightly baste with the Coke mixture in layers while grilling to build flavor without making the burgers soggy or causing flare-ups.
- Keep the heat at medium, not high – The sugars in the Coca Cola can burn quickly, so a steady medium heat lets the burgers caramelize without charring too fast.

Why Did My Coca-Cola Burgers Fall Apart?
Glazed burgers with mix-ins like crackers and egg behave a little differently than a plain beef patty, so here’s what to do if something goes wrong on the grill:
My burgers fell apart on the grill. This is the most common issue and almost always comes down to one of three things: the patties weren’t cold enough, the grill wasn’t hot enough, or the burgers were flipped too early. Always refrigerate your formed patties for at least 20-30 minutes before grilling — cold patties hold their shape dramatically better than room-temperature ones. Make sure your grill is fully preheated before the first burger goes on, and resist the urge to flip early. The burger will release naturally from the grates when it’s ready — if it’s sticking, it’s not done on that side yet.
My burgers stuck to the grill. The sugar in the Coca-Cola glaze makes these more prone to sticking than a plain burger. Grease your grill grates generously right before the burgers go on — use a folded paper towel dipped in oil held with tongs. Also make sure the grill is very hot before adding the patties, as a properly preheated grill sears the outside quickly and creates a natural release.
My burgers turned out mushy. Too much cola in the meat mixture is the culprit here. It’s tempting to add more for extra flavor, but too much liquid changes the texture of the ground beef and makes it nearly impossible to form firm patties. Stick to the measured amount in the recipe and reserve the rest for the glaze — that’s where the big Coca-Cola flavor comes through anyway.
My glaze burned before the burgers were cooked through. The sugar in the cola glaze caramelizes fast, especially over high heat. If your glaze is browning too quickly, move the burgers to a cooler part of the grill after applying the glaze and let them finish cooking over indirect heat. You can also apply the glaze later in the cooking process — wait until the last 2-3 minutes per side rather than basting throughout.

My burgers tasted bland. The cola and French dressing add a subtle sweetness and tang rather than a bold punch of flavor on their own. If you want a more pronounced Coca-Cola flavor, brush an extra layer of glaze on immediately after pulling the burgers off the grill while they’re still hot — the residual heat will set the glaze without burning it. A pinch of garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce in the meat mixture also deepen the overall flavor significantly.
The outside looked done but the inside was undercooked. This is especially common with glazed burgers because the dark, caramelized coating makes it hard to judge doneness by color alone. Always use an instant-read thermometer and pull the burgers at 160°F — they’ll carry over to the USDA-safe 165°F while resting. Give them a 3-5 minute rest on the plate before serving, which also helps the juices redistribute so every bite is as good as the first.
How long are leftover burger patties good for?
Leftover hamburgers will last in the refrigerator for 3-4 days if stored in an airtight container.
For longer storage they can be frozen for up to 3 months. Store in a freezer-safe bag or container. Thaw in the refrigerator before reheating.

Glazed Coca Cola Burgers
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- ½ cup Coca Cola soda divided
- ½ cup crushed Ritz crackers
- 6 TBSP French salad dressing divided
- 2 TBSP grated Jack cheese
- ¼ tsp salt
- 1 ½ lbs ground beef
- 6 hamburger buns
- sliced tomatoes, cheddar cheese, sliced red onions, lettuce, pickles for burger toppings
Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the egg, ¼ cup Coca Cola, cracker crumbs, 2 TBSP salad dressing, Jack cheese, and salt. Add beef and mix well.
- Shape into six ¾-in. thick patties. (If you have time, let the patties rest and chill in the fridge for 10 minutes or so before grilling. It'll help the flavor develop & help set the burgers so they're less prone to falling apart on the grill.)
- In a bowl, combine the remaining Coca Cola and salad dressing; set aside.
- Generously grease the grill, then grill patties, uncovered, over medium heat for 3-4 minutes on each side, depending on how big you made your burgers. Brush the patties with the glaze. Grill 2-3 minutes longer or until juices run clear, basting and turning occasionally. Serve on buttered, toasted buns with all the fixings your heart desires. Enjoy!

Do the burgers actually taste like Coca Cola?
Not really—the soda adds a subtle sweetness and helps with caramelization, but the overall flavor is more savory with a slight tangy-sweet finish.
Can I make these Hamburgers without a grill?
Yes, a stovetop skillet or grill pan works great—just cook over medium heat and continue basting to get that same caramelized effect.

Will the patties fall apart with the soda in them?
No—the egg and crackers balance out the moisture, helping the patties stay intact while still being extra tender.
Can I substitute the Ritz crackers?
You can use breadcrumbs, but Ritz adds a buttery flavor and softer texture that really makes these burgers stand out.
What kind of ground beef works best?
An 80/20 blend is ideal—it has enough fat to stay juicy without becoming greasy, especially with the added ingredients.

Can I use Pepsi Instead?
Of course you can use Pepsi! Or Diet Coke or Diet Pepsi! We even used Dr. Pepper and they came out amazing!

Hey, Jessica and/or Nellie,😝
Could I sub ground turkey for the beef and Diet Coke for the Coke? Or would I totally ruin the recipe? Any other changes I would need to make?
Thanks,
Cheryl

I’ve not tried these with that exact combination, but I think it’d work just fine! If anything, try and plan 15-20 minutes to chill the patties before grilling- they can be a bit soft, and I think ground turkey is even softer than beef.
