2-Ingredient Chocolate Mousse
When you think of chocolate mousse you think of a simple recipe with cream, sugar, eggs and butter. Which is a sensational way to make mousse. But what if you could make this treat faster and with less ingredients? I have tried several different recipes for chocolate mousse and most of them are fairly complicated. I found this recipe in an old cookbook and was a little bit skeptical because it only called for TWO INGREDIENTS! After making this and realizing how yummy it is, I decided I never have to go back to the alternate mousse recipes. I have a feeling I will be making this quite often at my house, there are not many desserts that can be ready to eat in 5 minutes!
Easy Chocolate Mousse Ingredients
Heavy cream: You will need 1 cup of heavy cream to help make this mousse smooth and creamy.
Chocolate syrup: Adding in 1/2 cup of chocolate syrup gives this dessert an amazing chocolatey flavor and creates a fantastic consistency to the mousse as well.
Step by step how to make Chocolate Mousse
Start by pouring the heavy cream and chocolate syrup in a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer.
Using an electric hand held mixer, mix until thick and smooth. Mix for about 5 minutes, stiff peaks should begin to form.
*Tip for a thick and sensational mousse! Use a metal bowl to mix the mousse in and stick it in the freezer for about 20 minutes before you begin the recipe process. This helps the mousse to chill fast and thicken quicker during the preparation process.
Serve immediately and enjoy!

Why didn’t my heavy cream thicken?
The number one reason for heavy cream not thickening would be if it was room temperature when you used it. You want heavy cream to be kept chilled in the refrigerator before using. It is why we also gave that tip for using a chilled bowl to mix the mousse together in, it really does work wonders!
How long does it take for heavy cream to thicken?
We typically see heavy cream begin to thicken around the 5 minute mar, but it could take up to 8 minutes if you want it a bit thicker.
What are stiff peaks?
Stiff peaks is the term given to beaten egg whites when you have whipped them so much that they look like meringue. When you stop and lift your beaters out of the egg whites, there should be little mountain peaks standing straight up. If they hold up straight, then they are “stiff peaks”. If they curve slightly and look more like a Dr. Seuss cartoon mountain, they are “soft peaks.”

What is heavy cream please? Is it double cream?
Jessica says
It’s heavy whipping cream- found near the milk in the dairy section.
