SLOW COOKER BBQ CHICKEN SANDWICHES {ZAYCON FRESH NATURAL CHICKEN}

Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken Sandwiches. Butter With A Side of Bread

I’m always on the hunt for a great slow cooker chicken recipe and this one is FANTASTIC. It’s easy to prepare and the end result is so delicious it made me giddy! I found myself interjecting it into casual conversations… “Can you believe it’s still snowing?! When will it stop? Oh and you’ve GOT to try this new chicken recipe I found!” Okay, that might be a stretch but still- IT’S SO GOOD! Try it!

I used Zaycon Foods chicken in my recipe because that’s pretty much all we eat! Have you ever heard of Zaycon? They offer fresh, all-natural chicken (and beef, pork, salmon, etc) for a discounted price. You make purchases online then pick up your product at a designated location near you about a month later. Products are sold in bulk, so a case of chicken is 40 lbs and costs just $1.99/lb and is on sale now. I’ve honestly never had chicken that tasted so good- the freshness really makes a difference! Zaycon Foods Fresh All Natural Chicken Discount

I first heard of Zaycon several years ago when I went out on a limb to try them out. Since then, I’ve tried so many of their products and can attest to their high quality and wonderful, fresh flavor. They are particularly appealing to me since we have a large family, but I’ve also split cases of product with other family members. They have incredible customer service and everyone I’ve ever met from Zaycon has been friendly and helpful. Don’t you just love supporting companies like that?! I do! {Above is a recent picture I took when picking up my case of delicious Zaycon bacon!}

Slow Cooker BBQ Chicken Sandwiches

  • 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, halved
  • 1 12-oz bottle BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup Italian salad dressing
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 TBSP Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 hamburger buns

Place chicken in a slow cooker. In a separate bowl, mix the barbecue sauce*, Italian dressing, brown sugar and Worcestershire sauce until well blended. Pour over the chicken.

*Quick note about the bbq sauce- the variety you use will greatly influence the taste of this recipe! I like a good quality, bold/ slightly spicy sauce.

Cover. Cook on high 3-4 hours or low 6-8 hours. It looks like it’s almost TOO much sauce, but trust me, after you shred the chicken, it’s perfect.

About 30 minutes prior to serving, shred chicken. You can do this inside the crockpot, or by pulling the separate pieces of chicken out and onto a plate, shredding them, then returning it to the sauce. Honestly though, this part is simple no matter how you do it- the chicken is so tender it shreds easily.

Return shredded chicken to the crockpot and stir into the sauce.  Cook remaining 30 minutes. Serve on a hamburger bun and ENJOY!

  1. I order my chicken from say on as well. I cut my breast in half when freezing, do you use 6 halves or 3 whole breast (6) pieces? I was just wondering. Thanks
  2. I have a question. I just ordered 40 lbs of zaycon chicken. We usually cook our chicken breasts on the grill, but the Zaycon chicken is cooking so much differently than grocery store chicken. It is turning extremely dry and unedible in my opinion. I've been googling like crazy trying to find a logical reason for this. I'm desperate to find a solution since I just bought 40 pounds of this stuff! Have you encountered this before.
    • That is so odd!! I've grilled mine many, many times- haven't had anything abnormal happen. My only thought is that Zaycon chicken breasts tend to be gigantic. Did you cut them up at all before cooking? Just wondering if maybe the more narrower sides are drying out on the grill before the thick middle section is done? I haven't notice that it cooks differently in any way- I usually bake a batch, put others in the crockpot, etc. The only thing different is the size, and because they're so much larger, I usually cut each breast into 3 sections and cook 5 sections at a time per meal. I'm sorry I'm not more help!
