PUMPKIN SPICE MARSHMALLOW POPCORN TREATS

PAM Cooking Spray sponsored this blog post. The opinions and text are all mine. PAM leaves 99% less residue than margarine or bargain-brand cooking sprays too.

I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and I do a lot of baking. One thing that most of my recipes have in common is the need for cooking spray and my favorite is PAM Cooking Spray. I’ve tried a lot of generic brands and they just don’t work as well- things still get stuck in the pan and a lot of times the sprayer gets clogged…I always end up going back to PAM Cooking Spray. PAM definitely comes in handy when using marshmallows because they are so sticky – this fun treat was the perfect after school treat for my kids this week!

PUMPKIN SPICE MARSHMALLOW POPCORN TREATS

  • 1 pkg (8 oz) Pumpkin Spice marshmallows
  • 3 Tbsp butter
  • 8 cups popped popcorn (I used this method of making popcorn – it works perfectly every time!)

Pop the popcorn and set aside in a large bowl.  Coat an 8X8 inch baking pan with PAM Cooking Spray.  Combine marshmallows and butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring until completely melted and smooth. Pour the marshmallow mixture over the popcorn and stir until popcorn is well coated.  Scoop the entire mixture into the prepared pan and press down until evenly distributed.  (I usually spray the back of a wooden spoon with PAM Cooking Spray and use that to press the mixture into the pan – if you don’t spray the spoon first, it will stick and make it much more difficult! Sometimes I actually just spray my fingers and use those to press the mixture down!)  I sprinkled some M&Ms on the top just for decoration. Let cool for a few minutes and then cut into squares and serve.

I was reading through a list of ways to use PAM and got a lot of new ideas to add to the ways that I already use PAM in my kitchen.

Here are some of my favorite ways to use PAM Cooking Spray:

  • spray the inside of a crock pot before cooking to make for easier clean-up
  • spray the inside of a measuring cup before measuring peanut butter or honey
  • when making bread, spray plastic wrap and place on top of rising dough to keep moisture in and prevent the dough from sticking
  • spray your countertop prior to rolling out cookie dough or bread dough- I always spray the rolling pin too!
  • spray cookie cutters and place directly on skillet to make fun shapes for eggs and/or pancakes – I just made these fun Halloween eggs for my kids and they were a big hit (only do this with metal cookie cutters!)
